Thanks so much for the kind words lads, it meant a lot, I posted the following in our thread today.Classy move guys. It means so much to Aero. He's gonna be on the mend for a while.
Wow guys, you’ve had me in tears more than once, I just don’t know how I can express the outpouring of good thoughts and wellwishes from all of you. All of you racing all last Monday in yellow cars was very touching. Also reading comments in the General SNAIL racing thread was very moving.
Well I’m alive and very lucky, albeit with some serious bone breakage. I was on an SV650 Suzuki on my to Montreal to see a friend for a couple of days, when a young lad decided he wasn’t going to stop. I saw him coming but when I realized he wasn’t going to stop it was too late, I was hard on the brakes and getting ready to bale but I nailed him on his front right corner with my left leg taking the brunt. I remember everything and never passed out, I went to hell for an hr in the back of an ambulance patience transfer vehicle, no suspension and no pain killer from them. Was very brutal. I am perfectly fine from the waist up. My right femur and right hip is fratured. It’s all pinned together. My left femur busted through my left pelvis and broke my left hip and it is all pinned together now. I have a torn ligament on the rear of left knee. All that above was thirteen hrs in the OR. Then on Wed it was another five hours to fix the left fibula and tibia which required a long rod down the middle with numerous pins. Then the fun part was the surgeons reconstructing my entire left foot. So that’s it on a nutshell, I am now in the Ortho rehab where they are saying I can’t put any wieight on my left foot for 4 to 6 weeks. But we’ll see, I have other plans!
Thanks again to all.
Mike visited today and it was great to have some laughs, which I’m planning on doing everyday no matter!
