Imma have to be more consistent, Lol. If I put more than two good laps together in a row it's called a miracle.:banghead:
And you're doing just fine, at least from my view......which is usually from behind you.
Its just i cant replicate my time trial times with the online lobby times. My time trial times are usually faster. Weird but imma start practicing in online rooms so i can be more consistant.

Sounds like you have "chat" selected for usb device. The PS4 will only send audio to one device. If you send chat and audio to USB ( sony usb wireless headsets) nothing will go through optical and HDMI. You will need to use a headset that uses usb for chat in/out and optical/RCA for audio. Then you can run headphones with audio and chat, soundbar, and Buttkicker. Not aware of any work around on that one unfortunately.
Oshawa-Joe has been in a PM with me helping me get my audio sorted out. I’ve made considerable gains thanks to him. A special thanks to him! My current situation is that I’m using 2 DACs in an attempt to get the audio to work properly. One for Buttkicker and one for headphones. Joe’s recommended DAC will do simultaneous outputs but my headphones (Logitech G430) were at the root of some [cross] interference to the buttkicker. BTW, with the target market of the Buttkicker Gamer2 (as the name implies), it’s a shame the amp doesn’t come with a digital inputs instead of the analog RCA.

Hang in there. Your were not last with your average speed and if I remember correctly, you qualified third on two occasions. Maybe I can add another graph and indicate average qualification positions....
That's really not necessary but thank you. I just need more practice, especially when it comes to racing in close packs. And I always tend to be a bit too conservative during a race resulting in higher lap times. I really am enjoying it though, these results are motivating me.

First combo races last night were really incredible (GT Red Bull Junior at Interlagos). Sooooo much fun to stalk with that vehicle on that track! I have yet to understand why, week after week, my favorite combination gets so many votes to be eliminated. Additionally, my least favorites seem to stick around for weeks (the ones I find tedious). I invite and appreciate your hypotheses please.

I know there is the factor of when something has been the same for many weeks people will vote on it just for the sake of change, even if it's a good combo. I think that's silly and we should keep things around longer if they're fun.

Seems I may get my tedious combo [voted off] wish this week! And I believe it’s for the reason that you say - it’s getting old now. Dragon Trail-Gardens will be interesting when we run it with the next car. (I would be fine if we never ran Dragon Trail-Seaside again. I despise the frickin’ bus on that forsaken course.)
Don’t get me wrong with all my belly aching. A bad race night is still better than a good day at work!

Yep, it is a mystery - we should look into potential meddling by the Russians....

I think it's a good combo and the track has a nice rhythm so other cars may still give that to create nice racing. It's not like Interlagos where there isn't much room to pass and you're essentially chasing hoping for a slip up so you gain the momentum advantage. Only two or three turns that actually can be used for overtaking and they're heavy braking zones. Yawn.

It is very interesting to me how over several years, both sides of the shenanigans continue to fight a battle they both should know very well nobody will ever win. The awkward social behavior of one who's tactics are sometimes questionable albeit with intent that is equally sincere & the often short and mistakenly perceived crass responders who's choice of words and approach sometimes taken hypocritical albeit always accurate and with fair justification. Both continue in their attempts to sway the other by acting the same way and still expecting a different result.

Let it be.

Let it be. That's an interesting way to put it , and I agree. Let it be. Let it (SNAIL) be what it ought to be. What it was intended to be. A community that volunteers it's precious time and effort to make sure WE ALL have an organized fun experience every Sunday night.

I think a lot of us take for granted what makes this league so unique. Its run by volunteers. What's happening behind the scenes on a daily basis to keep this boat afloat often goes unnoticed and underappreciated. That is evident (in part) when people repeatedly ask questions that someone already took THEIR TIME and created extensive documentation for.

When i entered this league, i looked at it as a privilege. You can tell how much by reading my first post here . To me , It's like being a guest in someone's house. Your not gonna trample dirt in across the rug and put your feet up on the couch. Maybe you do that in your own home, but would you do it as a guest in someone else's home? If you did you probably wouldn't be a guest for long and id bet you wouldn't be invited back any time soon either.

Whats kept me an active member (heh , i said member) has been the sense of community and the spirit of service to keep this thing going. I know several people in this league who are juggling multiple SNAIL duties. Beyond that there are other who don't even race anymore and STILL contribute regularly.

We need more volunteers. We need more people who are going to say, "What can i do to help?" rather than "What can you do for me?"

Keep up with your Division threads. See where you can be of service with Sunday night and weekly duties. Many of these do require a little learning curve , but if i can do it , anyone can. It will take some of your time, but anyone who has volunteered their time can tell you the benefits do outweigh the burden.

Just my perspective.

TLDR: Don't be a douche and do your part to help SNAIL stay awesome.

When I found out about SNAIL I was excited to race with people who - for the most part - were here for clean racing and fun. After a few weeks I stepped up and uploaded replays, and now have been doing data. Why? Because I love spreadsheets?! For the Shells you say! No, because I cannot be one of those people who shows up without the proper cars, doesn't check the thread(s), and plows through the combos without regard for the general camaraderie of SNAIL. If people don't want to help out or pay attention to what is going on, then just go do the dailies. Just my 2 cents.

I appreciate all the SNAILs who are active on the thread(s) and who take time to organize not only the whole SNAIL experience, but all the auxiliary events. The amount of effort that some people have put into a one off event, or a continuing (staggered) event is truly appreciated.

I do understand that life happens as well, as there will be some people who aren't as involved as deeply, but still contribute and participate in a congenial manner when they are here.

I have really enjoyed participating in SNAIL and have had a great time participating and chatting with SNAILs across all divisions. Let's keep up the great work. #rant over

The round that received the most elimination votes was:
Round 2 - ALFA ROMEO 4C GR.4 (SS) at Dragon Trail - Gardens - 08:00 Fine Weather (6 laps)
Therefore the entire combo has been dropped from next week's line-up. Since @DesertPenguin wins Prize A, he gets to choose an entirely new car and track combo to replace it.
PLEASE NOTE: Since @DesertPenguin has already won Prize A this season, he is ineligible to win it again until next season. This means that unless he loses Prize A due to incident reviews, any driver who competed in Division 3 on Sunday night will have the opportunity to suggest an entirely new car and track combo. I recommend that all D3 drivers from Sunday night start TESTING combos they would like to suggest. That way, you will be ready to post a good combo when @JLBowler gives the "all clear". It's important to mention that a good combo will not have a car that hits its rev limiter at any point during a race (even in a draft). Also, please be sure to only suggest one combo. Any driver who suggests more than one combo will automatically be ineligible to suggest any combos at all. Please don't let that happen to you. Only suggest ONE combo (but not until @DesertPenguin is confirmed as the Prize A winner).

The round that received the second most elimination votes was:
Round 1 - GRAN TURISMO RED BULL X2014 JUNIOR (SM) at Autódromo De Interlagos - 09:15 Clear (7 laps)
This means either the car or the track will be replaced for next week's line-up. Since @Kgffy gets Prize B, he has the option to freeze the car or the track, or he can give that option to the Prize C winner. If he gives the freeze away, then he gets to decide what car or track replaces the part of the combo that is left unfrozen by the Prize C winner.

Prize C goes to @Nicktune so he gets whichever option the Prize B winner does not select.

Preliminary prize winners, please don't announce your prize selection until all incident reports have been filed and it has been confirmed that you don't have any penalties. It's also recommended that you review the SNAIL combo history and other data on our car and track history so that you can get an idea how many times we've raced each car and track. Please remember that originality is always appreciated, so picking cars and tracks that we've never raced is a plus (but not required). What's more important is that you thoroughly test any combo that you are considering before making it your official selection. For example, any car you select should not hit its rev limiter at any point during a race (even in the draft).

IMPORTANT: When posting your Prize A or Prize B selection, please list the complete in-game name of the car and/or track you are selecting. For example, if you want to select the Amuse Superlegara for your car, post "Amuse Nismo 380 RS Superlagara". If you want to select Monza for a track, post "Autodromo Nazionale Monza". This makes it much easier for the lineup to be updated accurately and also prevents confusing other league members as to which car or track you are selecting. Also, please be sure to list the PP and HP (after oil change) of any car you select.

Currently tracking 4 Incident Reports
We have at least one prize winner with a racing incident being investigated by the stewards. This may, obviously, change the order of the prizes to be selected. All winners are asked to refrain from making selections until the Weekly Steward's report has been posted.
The target deadline for the Steward Reviews, this week, is Wednesday night by 10PM Eastern. The Steward Summary will be posted as soon as possible, following completion of reviews.
:@: SNAIL Stewards, please make your way to The Incident Review Scoring.
The IR Submission Form is now closed.

All those that have the potential to end up with a prize will be added to a conversation in the next few minutes. This conversation will contain instructions and deadlines that must be followed and met in order to remain eligible for prizes.

Big props to all the guys and the hours yall put in for all these stats it's amazing how much detail goes in to all of this but damn I'm slow!

It is not that you are slow. Once you are more consistent and do multiple clean laps your average speed will come up. Also, with only three division we have big gaps from first to last in the divisions. Everyone should put our league out there so we can get more people and have a good balance within the divisions. Snail is one place where your skills can improve over time.

I have noticed a debate among some that is kind of smoldering at this point. The question that has been raised is, would it be better to have a tighter skill gap within more divisions or are larger fields more important. At the current time, we are right on the cusp of having three or four divisions. We have stayed at three divisions as it allows for larger fields on Sunday nights.

I want to open up a discussion about which of the two options would be more appealing to the membership. Please post here which you would prefer:
Tighter skill gaps with smaller grids or,
Larger grids with the existing skill gap.

Post your thoughts but please refrain from debating or attacking anyone else's opinion. Just make your thoughts known and they will be taken into consideration. If you're not comfortable posting them for everyone to see, you can start a conversation with me giving your opinions. Please note that I will not be responding to any of these conversations and this is not to be taken as a chance to petition for anyone to be moved between divisions.

That's a very good point rednose slow or not I haven't had this much fun in a long time and it has lit a fire that had been gone along time since my big motorcycle wreck even though it's a video game there is more comradery here than iv ever experienced before racing on the circuits in cmra (central motorcycle racing association)

Honestly either way doesn't bother me at all I'm not one of the fastest in D3 but being able to race on sundays and enjoying it like I have is all that matters to me JL you do a good job over seeing everything making it all work out and what ever the group as a whole decides won't bother me one bit as long as we all keep racing sundays and continue to improve

I got myself a Sony headset (wireless through a usb stick), but now have problems getting a signal to my Buttkicker....

I ran the buttkicker from my TV Headphones. The sound to my soundbar was through TV optical out and chatting was through the PS4 controller mic.

Now, if I want to get the surround sound through my headphones, nothing is going to my TV and Buttkicker.

I tried to plug the headset USB stick in the TV, but it doesn't seam to work. I have a Sony TV, so I hope there is way that the PS4 and the TV can communicate a bit better.

I don't want to use the headset for chatting only... The whole point is to be able to chat and drive without blowing everybody away with the background noise from the soundbar. ...And, once you experience the full surround sound effect from the headphones... who wants to go back to the flat sounds from the sound bar...

Any advice?
I'd love to know what you come up with. I suffer the same situation. @GUTTERBOY3007 found a solution and explained it to me, but that's when my back went out and I haven't had a chance to try anything new. I think (but not positive) he runs the USB dongle for headphones, and uses the headphones port on his TV to supply the Buttkicker. But I also remember him mentioning an HDMI analog to digital converter. I have an optical audio to digital converter, and PS4 won't supply a signal to both USB port and optical port simultaneously.

I like the larger grids with the existing skill gap because alot more on track helps to have the newer drivers take the faster lines of the faster driver in front of them so over time they become either just as fast or faster than the driver in front of them. Over the years in snail i have learned from so many from @TEX36 to @Kgffy and @Alexrider007 learned to take faster driving lines behind myself after i learned how to take the faster driving lines. It is a learning curve when we have larger grids with the existing skill levels so everyone can learn the faster driving lines and each newer driver learns race etiquette and respect on the track. As @Adramike pointed out with reverse grids, the person who is the fastest for that one race wins the race and then has to work their way up to the top for the reverse grid 2nd race so with the larger grids it provides a challenge for that driver and it's fun.

Being a new driver in the SNAIL League (2 weeks) I like the larger grids with faster players. Although I have a tendency to finish towards the bottom of the standings I like to watch what the others are doing in D3 so I can improve my skill set. I have competed in 12 races up to this point and it’s been a great experience.

Holiday Event - May 27

Looks like we have enough interest to put a holiday event together. Question is what is it going to be?

Fill in the survey below to help us decide. Once the winning option is decided, I'll start with a sign-up sheet in the Holiday Event thread and also work on the details so that there can be enough time to practice before Sunday.

Survey will close on Wednesday night at 10:00 PM Eastern time (So we have time to make preparations for Sunday)

Voting Closed. Go to Holiday Event to sign up

You only gave three options for what to race. Personally I'm not interested in any and would rather use it as an extra practice night. I'll host that if anyone else wants to join.

Also, larger grids are better.
I like the bigger fields, it provides everyone on the track someone to race with. Plus, more passing/close racing is always a good thing on reverse grids.
As long as they have good situational awareness when the faster cars are coming up on them.
