Is there a current structure that shows how many $hells a person earns for performing the required tasks?
Does one job “pay” more than another? Example; Host versus Texter? Division manager vs Scorekepper? Etc, etc, etc.
This season I have hosted twice and will continue to do so, but I have only netted two (2) $hells for over 4 hours of “work”? Seems a little disparaging.

I brought the subject up of a pay scale for $hells back in Mid October, but there has been no update on the payscale. If people knew how many $hells each position was worth, they may be more inclined to volunteer for one of the jobs.
As @TexasJDC mentioned, I am one of those pulling double duty for D4 most race nights.
Adding the duties into the stat keeping as some type of incentive may make it more attractive.

sometimes people dont even collect the shells so if they dont want the shells they could allow someone who does to step in and collect them shells

I used to “forget” to claim my shells but it was really more of a case of being too lazy or caring enough to go find the link to the form. Ever since I’ve added the link to the form on my signature, I collect them every time.

I've got the link to claim bookmarked on my favorites. I still don't claim the $hells at least 80% of the time that I do something. Once every couple of weeks, I will remember to claim them for what I've done that week and then let it go for weeks without claiming anything. The $hells don't serve as motivation for me to get everything done. The fact that SNAIL runs well on a day to day basis is what motivates me to get my part of it done.

I would hope that most people feel the main purpose of volunteering services for SNAIL is to give back to a highly organized and well run league.

When I first joined I was so happy to find a group that raced clean and fast (really fast) and if there was an incident you had a process to have it (thoroughly) reviewed.

I almost immediately stepped up to do some of the duties as I had time to help out and was my way of saying thanks. As I have said before, I couldn’t be one of the people who just shows up, races, doesn’t really interact, and bounces after voting.

Collecting Shells is just a way for the league to give back what they can considering that all of this is done FOR FREE by the BOD, if people collect shells that is great - no matter the number of them.

There have even been members lately who have stepped up and offered monetary prizes for events they have held and most recently one of the BOD mentioning prizes linked to SNAIL.

Once again - or for the TLDR - SNAIL is free and shells are a token of appreciation for helping with duties of which you reap the benefits and enjoyment of. I am more than happy to help out when I can just to be a part of the league.

Well stated, I agree 100% and your points and comments are all valid, and are most assuredly echoed by most everyone that is part of this great group of racers.

I think I've done data once, replays a half a dozen times, and have been hosting, on and off for a couple months, and I think I claimed shells once or maybe twice, and just simply forgot. It's not that I don't want them, I do...I just enjoy actually being able to contribute a little. In the beginning I was too scared, or too technologically intimidated, and avoided volunteering, but now that I have done replays, data and hosting, I realize it's so easy even an old Canadian can do it, Lol.
For anyone that's new, or feels a little bit the way I did, all I can tell you is to volunteer and see how easy it really is, and enjoy the feeling of being involved.

@SAMHAIN85 Thank you and the work you do is very much appreciated adding up everyone's points through the years and doing stats here for Snail. We all are appreciative of the hard work you do with researching past point standings back from 2014 which is really impressive and all the work all do here in Snail to keep this league an organized, friendly organization of skilled drivers and people who know the where with all of what to do around a computer, i know i only know the basics of turn on/off computer :lol::lol:. To be in the lead for points is to be consistent, patient which at times i did a mistake on track getting into someone else not realizing i either misjudged a braking point or just did a mistake on track costing someone else a race for my mistake that i have learned from my past mistakes to be a professional as i can be on track. I emailed you Sam my email address, the work you do i appreciate very much and thank you for the offer for the gift card. I do the Replay Uploading because that is where i am comfortable doing and have done since i started to volunteer replay uploading in GT6.

I noticed that livery right away. I kind of cringed when you got into the back of Turismo Lester though. Chain reaction though not much you can do about it.

Yeah that was unfortunate. Someone must've overshot their brake point battling behind me and I was just along for the ride.

In the absence of Rednose we are working on it to get this post on the combo page.

A recent race - and a few practice sessions, have made me realize that there is a major change coming to Snail Racing.

The arrival of the Shifter, IMHO, is going to seriously effect the parity of Spec Racing that we enjoy. One thing has always been evident - Change and Progress are facts of life and they are Marching forward.

Sooo, the Have Nots have a decision to make - before we get left at the Starting Line ...... and in the dust at all the corners.
Amazon has a Logitech Shifter for the
G-29 at $50 or so. Guess I’ll start saving the pennies.

A worthy investment for a sim-racing rig! I enjoy vintage cars more than newer models ever since I got a shifter. I just wish GTSport would invest a little effort and programming into their clutch model. There's room for improvement that would do so much for the game's credibility.

I've played the game a couple times in the past week. What's the deal with being able to stop faster if you use both the gas and brake simultaneously?

Is it just the use of the gated shifter as opposed to the paddles or does it require the use of the clutch pedal as well to get the gain in performance? I'm asking just because I'm curious about how it works. I don't have a shifter and have no plans to purchase one as I just don't race as much as I used to. Back when I had the G27 and the shifter, I would use it from time to time but without the clutch as it is so poorly implemented in the game.

You can shift with the shifter and completely ignore the clutch pedal.

This is true. But the only way you can gain time is by clutching yourself. When the game simulates pressing and releasing the clutch, it takes just as much time to shift as when you're using the paddles.
