This is a lot of fun! Great choice!

You can't even enter a . in the online search to try and find it. You might be able to do it in the game but I don't have the game up and running right now. All those tags will need to be changed to the correct format.

For anyone sharing replays. The format has to be correct so that I and the rest of the stewards can search and find them. There is no way that we can guess what method was used to tag the replays if it's not the correct format. We have been very lenient in extending deadlines to get replays shared and allowing divisions to keep their prizes. Currently, I spend my Monday evening trying to track down anywhere between 1 and 3 sets of replays, either because they are not tagged properly or they just are not shared at all. I didn't even have a chance to look for them today until well after the deadline and then still gave everyone a chance to get them accounted for. There is going to come a time that I'm not going to have the free time to go searching for everything and if the replays are not there, those divisions are just going to lose their prizes and we'll reward the divisions that can get it done correctly and before the deadline.

Sorry for the rant but this is getting old when it has to be done almost every week.

Just so this is a somewhat productive post, here are the instructions for sharing a replay:

All replays must be shared in game and be "tagged" under search tag #1 using the following naming convention: YYYYMMDDdxrxrx To break that down YYYY = year of race, MM = month of race, DD = date of race, dx = division#, rx = round#, rx = race#. An example of this would be 20171203d1r3r2 = 2017 Dec. 3 Division 1, Round 3, Race 2.

Then, with all due respect, why don’t you enforce that rule then?
That was my bad. The missing replays were uploaded before I had a chance to post the results, so I was lenient. Also, stripping prizes from winners just sucks for everyone. The obvious victim is the winner who no longer gets the prize he worked hard for, but it also sucks to lay that heavy dose of guilt onto the volunteer who signed up to upload the replays. And to be perfectly candid, it sucks for me because I have to go through a tedious process of editing the results post.

All that being said, we'll be enforcing the deadline going forward. There just isn't a point in having rules if you aren't willing to enforce them. It's also not fair for @JLBowler to have to spend every Monday night chasing down replays. He already wears more hats and does more for this league than anyone else, so having that additional burden on him is absurd.

Unfortunately, this will most likely mean that prize winners will lose their prizes in the near future. The question is, how do we best prevent this from happening (or at least keep it to a minimum)? I'd love hear some best practices so that all divisions can run like well oiled machine. Do we need to post a reminder after every league night? That seems a bit babysitter-ish though. Maybe we could have a Replay Manager and award $hells to that responsibility? Any thoughts or suggestions are welcomed.

What are all the different things that need to be done on or after race night? I’d be willing to help out if there was something I was able to do, I’m not great with computers but I can usually figure out how to do most simple things.

This post from our thread outlines the roles. Some have a description, if they don’t they are further outlined in the OLR.

Helping out in any capacity is great. I spent some time Monday on a chat with @Fudman420 going over some of the things he asked about - as well as other random thoughts. Good times.

Thank you for noting that you would be willing to help.

I have read the first post and would like to join referred by Mike Grove

@LamarLHardy

Here's your official SNAIL Welcome Post!
Thanks for your interest!
Here's what you need to know (and do) in order to join SNAIL Racing League:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the SNAIL OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide. Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You start a conversation and add @CoachMK21, @JLBowler, @nmcp1,@zer05ive ,@Rednose58,@MajorBlixem & @SAMHAIN85 as participants.

The conversation title should be "Request To Join".

2. SNAIL Administrators will respond with specific instructions on what you need to accomplish to join the SNAIL [Spec] Racing.

3. Place the following links (URLs) in the favorites (or bookmarks) in your web browser for quick reference. Please make every effort to read and understand the following links. Over the years a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating this league and we would like nothing more than to have you but we ask that you take the time and effort to do your homework. 99.9% of any question you may have about SNAIL can be found in the posts below.
4. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

Again, the original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread. If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.

Also remember that this is the last portion of the rule that will now be enforced:

Exemptions to this policy can be granted in unusual situations provided that a member of the BoD, @zer05ive @JLBowler @CoachMK21 @Rednose58 @MajorBlixem @nmcp1 @SAMHAIN85 is notified of the issue before the deadline.

If there is an issue getting the replays shared or found, you can reach out to the BoD and explain the situation and still get some breathing room.

@zer05ive
I started uploading the replays as we were racing. This is simple to do and while uploading you can ask in either party chat or in game chat the proper procedure. This way it’s uploaded during the night and not after when you could be alone with no expertise. Other members in D1 started to follow suit and I think it’s something that we need to look into going forward to help all DIVISIONS learn and exploit this opportunity. It’s also possible for those having to do multiple suites in a night to get 2 in 1 and not have to spend the extra time after the races doing replays and data and scores and such.

I have read the first post and would like to join. Heard about the league from a Reddit post. I am new so would definitely need a beginner league. Thank you!

Who will be hosting official SNAIL practice tonight?

For new members- every Thursday we run a mock-up of Sunday’s races. We split into 2 rooms. 1 for D1 /D2. And another for D4/D5. Division 3 can go to either room to balance grids.

This is a great time to work on race craft while driving side by side with other SNAILS under real racing conditions.

Hope to see you all there tonight!
