0-60 tests

My god the driveline shunt on the GTRs 0-60 run is incredible. They guy looked like he was going to 🤬 himself!

Would love to see some telemetry of the forces that were dumped on the gearbox and lovely carbon prop shaft in that run~!

0-60 tests would be an interesting feature, there used to be 0-300 and 0-500m tests in GT1 but i can't see them making a reappearance officially though

I would love a official acceleration timer in GT5, I do test 0-100km/h in GT4 but it's a pain.

Proper performance box would be nice.. we once tested one at school, and it showed us the speed, lateral and longitudinal G's, drift angle, speed. of course, this would be purchased in-game..

The Machine Tests in GT4 have 0-100 meter run. That's about 1,312 feet. Only 8 feet less than 1/4 mile. So you pretty much have a very comprable measure of acceleration to a bench-mark test. Better than 0-60, I'd say, because powerful cars are really traction-limited off the line. AND, after doing a 0-100m test, replay it and just pause it when the speedometer hits 60.

Lancia Delta S4 rally car: 0-60 in about 2.45 seconds on the hardest race tire (the R1s).

I've found the times are close enough to real life, that any difference is not very substantial. Of course, the hard part is launching with the traction control off.

you mean 0-400m.I dont know how realistic the 1/4 mile times really were as they seemed a little slow to me.(maybe wrong tyre choice!)

The Times seem really slow in GT4 0-400m is because they use different kind of pavement. Normal Street in the Vegas location, and race one on the TEST curse which dont seem to be that sticky either. Once you go to real life Drag strip they use very sticky pavement and people are heating up the tires for even more traction.
I hope in GT5 there will be a real 0-400m and or 1/4 mile drag strip, not a normal street section with little grip.

100m is 328ft. Only 992 feet less than 1/4 mile.

But they also have a 0-400m test. 400m is 1,312 feet.

0-60mph times are so variable it's not even funny. Run it at sea level and it's quicker. Run it at 1,100 feet and it's slower. Run it in winter and it's quicker. Run it in summer and it's slower. There's also the type of tarmac, the type of fuel, the loading in the car (no small effect, that one), the time taken to change gear...

To be honest I'd be bloody surprised if anyone can match a manufacturer quoted 0-60mph (even if it is a 0-60mph time, and not a 0-62mph time, or a 0-100km/h time) in the car in real life, never mind a simulation. I wouldn't be too fussed about a 10% variation each way.

This site is like the European insideline I love it, thanx for the link bro.

Not sure if this is the right thread for this question but it does have to do with standing starts. Is the launching in GT5P better than GT4, meaning is there rumble vibration coming through the wheel or controller, and torque steer for some FF cars?

To compare to FM2 for a minute, the launches in that game are pretty good, you can feel the tires gripping for traction and the rumble vibration portrays it very well. I did not get the same feeling at all playing GT4, just wondering how it was in Prologue, any significant difference.

It hasn't been in GT yet, but I hope it will be included, as with the torque over steer for FR, also in forza. I think it's relevant for realisme.

One thing that would be cool with drag race is instead of loading the ghost right on to your lane, it would be loaded in the opponent lane. I really missed the ability to load ghosts to the dragstrips.

Now to the topic: I vould love more basics tools to test a car in GT, like 0-100kph (0-62mph) and so on, and even a long straight to test top speed and so on. More detailed telemetry too.

It is indeed very difficult to suppress one's feelings of mechanical sympathy and attempt a 'magazine/manufacturer' 0-60 time with most cars... especially those with more than 250hp or 200hp/tonne.

Cars with launch control are an 'easy' way to experience this type of experiment, and the rather aggressive experience of a modulated full throttle launch is well... startling, to say the least.

Of course, these types of cars are few and far between!

And then we come to drag racers. :D

This here gave me an idea, since it is hard to match those of magz and manufacturers, maybe it could be implemented as a way to improve your own launch-controll, as to progressing towards driving without aids..?
It could also be a tool for finetuning lanching capabillities of the car.
PD allready have the standards to be matched for each car.
