I have recently started running Indy for 1/4 mile and was wondering how should my car be set up for: transmission and suspension. I'm not asking you for a tune, just tips for good performance at 1/4 mile. Thanks.

This might be a noob question but what does "soft suspension" mean? Thanks again.
Low spring rates and a high ride height.
Dampers make also a difference.

Ok thanks for that. Any other tips will be appreciated.

If you are serious about tuning then start a log of all your settings. As you make an adjustment write it down. If you do this you will always know where you have been and what does not work.

I have already got that, every good drag tune I have, I have saved on my laptop.

low spring rates and high ride height? I think he is pulling your leg, or he just can't tune for drag, That sound so bad, and wrong, in my experience you want a lower car, and depending on the drivetrain, stiffer suspension in the front/rear. What kind of car are you trying to tune? AWD or RWD, im guessing your not dumb enough to use a front wheel drive car, ew.

You see that quote? No?
I was just answering a question. Don't tell me that it's wrong what I wrote, cause it's definitely not. It's a rare case to meet smartasses like you, dear osamaFTW (bad name, tells me a lot about you.....). Thank you that I'm just dumb enough to post something right, but luckily not to use a FF car. Oh and your statement, that I can't tune for drag, hurts me so bad.......
I've never seen you at SSR7, so I think you're tuning for 1/4 mile. Sad, we won't be able to see who's the crappy tuner.......

Woohoo doc rage! :D But yea, 100% agree with you doc, crappy tuner? Do some research before you post, eh? Unless you mean MrGrado, then you do have a slight point.

What? You don't get it?

Well, it was an allusion (right word?) to his post. Would mean: Me or he

Oooohh Doc got angry there lol. Also if you think he's a crap tuner you've obviously never seen him about

Well, doc only does SSR7, and this guy only does 1/4. So they'll never meet. Unless you do the TGTT Straight…

In my experience drag racng you want long first and/or second gears depending on which you launch (manual is best) and shorter gears following. There are definitly other things that go into consideration though.

I'm up for that, get the boys togethor :D

I saw this osama guy before. He is more of a casual dragger, I wouldn't say any of his cars are breaking records

I saw him once, never dragged him though. I think it was the same room me and DaLightnin were in once.

Sad to see you got angry for nothing, because I was not directing that to you, it was clearly to McGrado, and about my name, how exactly is it bad? FTW= F The World, and you haven't seen me on SSR7 because that takes no skill what so ever, all you do is throw the tranny up and the ride height down, maybe next time you should ask who i'm talking to Mr. Get offended over the internet when no one is even talking to you. Have a nice day. :)

It's pretty obvious, throw the tranny up, tranny means transmission, throw it up, is a way of saying, just put the top speed up, and the ride height is obvious.

aaaaaand how many times have you actually gone to a pro SSR7 room?

since when is ssr7 so much easier than Indy? In some cases it's much harder to keep the car on the powerband. Your offending a whole lot of people with your B.S generalization. Just cause you don't like it don't hate on people who do,

I'm not hating on anyone, and you guys are taking a guy on the internet way to serious. And yes I have been to quite a few "pro" ssr7 rooms, all it is is viper, speed 12, and some other cars that hit 250mph +.
I'm done with this thread, you guys can say what you want, just make sure you keep riding doc's d*ck. Puppets. Have nice lives! :)

Tuning for tunnel is just slapping a tune on? Haha people keep making me laugh, everybody thinks just because its not indy slam the car down. its nothing like that You need the acceleration and top speed. If You Dont know anything bout tuning for tunnel keep your mouth shut. Or come to my tunnel drag rooms and see if justs slapping a tune on.

I imagine "pro" to you is 10 year old hillbillies asking each other what "suspension" is. I consider myself a good 1/4 racer but once I head over to SSR7 it's the opposite story. Still haven't one once over there

Go do a couple runs with GME and we'll see how well you "slap on your tune" :)
