Posting for my friend.came out of a 1964 galaxie 500 427 model. He has a 1964 ford 427 FE that has the matching car. The car is in bad shape (needs 75% restoration) But the engine was pulled out years ago and has been in storage since, ran and drive when it was pulled out. Also have the 4 speed trans and the 9 inch rear with it. We have read articles for this exact same engine in similar shape with out the rest of the drive train for 65,000 to 88,000. That's all we can really find articles of people looking for years to finally find it and that this engine is a big part in auto history. We are trying to find a rough estimate to sell it for. These things definitely do not come along for sale that often. We can't find an entire engine for sale on the internet right now that's from the 60's We definitely haven't found a single account of the full drive train for sale. We found a couple short/long blocks for sale around 20,000 on some forums. Just looking for help or info on forums. Thanks

This was the engine that nascar originally banned from nascar in 1964. Or one of them the info I read was vague

Point is; a section of a forum largely dedicated to racing games probably isn't your best bet for finding such information. Moreover, lacking additional information (such as--but not limited to--condition) even someone on such a forum who happens to be well-versed on the subject isn't likely able to offer any insights you can [literally] take to the bank.

I don't mean to seem rude--though I'm likely coming off that way--I just think you'll have better luck elsewhere and your time will not have been wasted with futile pursuits.

I just learned Ford had a 3rd 427 engine developed in the 60s, the Calliope 3 valve.

As far as ascertaining the value of the engine a lot of factors will need to be considered first. Do you have any pictures of the engine/trans to help us out possibly ?

The engine is in good shape better than some of the ones I seen go for crazy amounts. Am going to take the top off soon and help him look in it I'll take pics.

This is not the 427 that was banned that 427 didn't come in stock galaxies. I think from what I'm reading.
No need to quintuple post. The edit button is there for a reason ;)

As for your question, @Slash might be able to help.

There was 3,000 give or take R code motors for 1964. It is one of the desirable engines, second to the SOHC and Q code. You need to determine what intake it has (low, mid or hiriser) and if it's a side oiler engine. That will make the most difference.

The basic non running but complete motor is probably worth about $2000 tops. Whoever is selling one for $20k that motor better be super modified.
