It's a very cool picture but I'm not sure how it fit the regulations. :/

Is it allowed to "hide" the background with a solid color? How does the "Remove items from shot (scenery, other cars)" rule aplly to it?

I guess I've asked this same question in the past but I think I didn't got any answer.

The short answer to this is no you aren't allowed to cover over the background with a solid colour.
The long answer is yes you are allowed to apply vignetting to the image and until now we haven't really had to specify the limits of that but it seems to be a bit of a loophole so we will be making some limits to its use.
There will be a limit to how far a solid colour of a vignette can come in from the borders, just how we word that is still a work in progress.
As for Aiden's image, it appears to me to be a step too far, however I would need to see the original unedited image to make an absolute call on that as you can get a very dark background with light on the subject like that using the partial colour filter in the right spot. So if @AidenNewman888 can pm me and/or SlipZ the original that would be appreciated.

It certainly is a bit of a grey area. I agree too much of a strong vignette can create too much solid color thus giving the almost cutout look which I think is stepping over the line. On the other hand sometimes depending on where you shoot you can get a clean solid background look just by tweaking the contrast which is perfectly legal.

It all comes down to the original shot, having a clearer line on this may help some but there may still be the occasional need to see the original shot for better judgement.

It is hard to tell sometimes. Even in my current entry I have a pretty close to solid area around the car, which in the original you could see the walls texture, albiet quite dark but I played around with the contrast and it made it pretty solid, I consider that within the rules though.

Would it not be a good idea to implement that on a 2.0 comp the original unedited photo is posted in a link under each entry that way it doesn't take up much space, Is pretty unobtrusive and the shots can be compared easily if need be seeing as the full size entry is embedded in the preview anyways.
