RiddikGT5
i just wanted to download and install the new 2.05 update for GT5...
By about 60% an error occurt and the download stopped.
I restarted the download and now its shows me 608MB for download?!
I aborted the update and wanted to start the game offline and now my game is corrupt, i have lost some XP, background, avatar etc... ( i have not checked everything)
Not sure whats going on with this update, i´m currently updating its with this 608MB update, hopefully it will bring my game data back :nervous:

anyone else expecting issues with the latest update?

Not for me at least.

Normally it will show how big the files is and say you need to update when you lunch GT5. However, this time did not pop up for me at all and I can go straight in and showing version 2.05.

but prior to lunch my GT5, there was a PS3 update. So I don't know if that has anything to do with that.

Your internet probably got disconnected briefly, and now your game data is corrupt unfortunately. Just erase the game data (installment, not the game progress or you'll loose all of your cars!) and reinstall. You should be fine. Though it will take a while to update from scratch. That 608MB is the first update. You'll see two progress bars and a 1/15 below them. Once the 608MB is done, it will install it and start downloading the second update wich it's around 300MB. And it will go on and on until all 15 updates are done.

Check the ingame news section. Looks like PD put on the European update servers a corrupted update file.

They resolved the problem already. I didn't got the corrupted update, pewww. :D

Now as the patches aren't anymore save (gsus!), I'll let me next time as well more time with downloading them. :scared:

We have enough beta testers here on the forum. :D

oh my god now i see the 1/15 update progress bar... i cant beleve it, thats su**s
I remebmer me that i have done a game data save to an USB stick, so i should have no problem with lost game data...

oh damn, im so unlucky with the corrupt update :(

but why all the updates in the past are gone from my GT5 game?!

oh great, im also not able to install the updates, because another error occured while the first update... what a day

Because the update has broken your whole GT5 installation. Therefore you have to re-install the game & re-download all patches. :dunce:

I bet it happend to a lot of Europeans, and some of them have lost as well their GT5 save game.
Well done, PD.
:dopey:👍

1.) Backup your game save, if you haven't already (useless task if it's corrupted as well)
2.) delete the whole GT5 game from your harddisk
3.) insert the GT5 disk, preinstall the files from the disk & then download the patches
4.) restore your save game

Some hours later you might be able to enjoy GT5, again. :) But all your pics, replays & created tracks are gone (and maybe Spa and the Kart track & some DLC cars as well if you are unlucky). You also have to restore all your car thumbnails.

Good luck, dude. 👍 A cheering up beat for you < link updated, just found a 10 hr version of it on Youtube, lol :)

You'll get there eventually, don't worry. Most updates are below 100mb. There is one that's only a meg. But beware when you reach update 10/15 because that's the big one... Around 1.2GB.

I believe you have a fairly decent internet service. Mine sucks because I only have 1mbps and it took me 8 hours to update from scratch.

Well, I am more fortunate as my game data did not corrupt, only my game save file. Which (luckily) I was careful to backup to USB last night before I logged off, and has restored ok.

I am sorry, but whether this is PDs fault or Sonys (we may never know) - THIS IS UNFORGIVABLE. I feel so much for Driver321GO. So now we have a fix today for today's faulty patch for a faulty patch from last week. Does anyone not think this is outrageous?

I agree with you:tup: Specially because how time consuming it is to progress through the game. And like in my case, updating from scratch is not easy because of my internet speed. Which reminds me that I haven't backed up my file yet...

no big deal about the game data, i have saved it last month, but i dont understand why PD is deploying a update for a patch and then make such a mistake?!

Got a feeling that the update error is related to the size of your Game Size file (possibly related to the old pre V1.06 Game save issue). Had a similar issue when trying to install the update from my primary account with Game Save size about 9Mb split over 5 internal files. The update would start but fail and console would reboot (beeps). Only did this twice as have lost console before if error happens again during the reboot. Tried the update again from my second GT5 account with Game Save file only 650Kb (only 1 internal file) and the update went through fine. I think I was lucky not corrupt my Game save too, but can't be sure that a new issue will not be introduced by applying last patch with different profile to all previous patch/game install account.
** Should probably warn anyone who needs to re-apply their patches because of the update error not to try and restart the game in pre V1.06 patch level with a very large Game Save file from after the V1.06 update as that would most likely cause the corruption, the early game would not be able to read the later game save format and crash and burn, taking the data with it.

I agree about being the beta testers for PD's flagship Game

At this point of the huge updates, maybe having the Spec 2.0 disc isn't such a bad idea after all. Probably PD is thinking the same thing as well, gotta sell more of the Spec 2.0 game disc you know ! :sly:

next big problem!
I have deleted the complete game data and the save data.
I´m starting the game, the 2.05 update was found and the first big update is the 608 mb update 1/15.
The first update will be completly downloaded and the message appears that the update wil be installed and i should not turn of the PS3.
But then an error occured: An error occured while the installation process, error code 80029564

I have re tried the installation and update but the error is still the same, im out of ideas :(

I had the same thing happening to me the first time I tried to update from scratch. I found out it was my internet connection being unstable. If you connection gets interrupted even for a second, it will mess up the update and you'll get the error when installing the update.

Assuming that you have your PS3 connected wireless, I suggest that you connect it directly through the ethernet cable. I did that, and although it took me almost 8 hours, it went all good.

If you're still having problems, even though it might sound harsh, I think that getting the 2.0 disc wouldn't be a bad idea. I'm getting it just in case. I rather spend a couple of dollars instead of going through the hassle of updating everything again, and not knowing if it will go through or not.

But my PS3 is connected via cable and the update got fully downloaded, i think there must be something wrong with the install process itself?!

Edit: i have formatted the hard drive but still the same error, the update could be downloaded but while the install process by 10% the install stops and the error occured, so have to give up...

Solution: i performed a complete system recovery (took ~6 hours with formatting the disc) now the system is able to install the GT5 updates

I hate to resurrect an old thread but I got to 9/15 and the update froze. No progress bar movement for 15 minutes, not a single %age point. I canceled and started again and it started from the first update again. Is there anyway to download these individually. it's ridiculous that I'm going to have to spend an entire night downloading/installing just to play this game again (reformatted due to HDD issue). Not to mention it seems that if the update errors/times out at some point EVERYTHING has to be restarted again...just ridiculous.

I've got the same problem. But my progress bar keeps on going. It's 393% now.

I'm on 1/22 of the updates, and haven't got past a single one. It says it's 608MB so it's fairly small, I guess.

I have no problem accessing different web sites and downloading large files. I'm on a 100/100 Mbit connection and tptest gives me roughly 96 Mbit down and around 80 up link.

397%...

Hey guys,

I haven't been having the best of luck with GT5 ... my old game data got corrupt, and I had to format the PS3, etc, etc, etc ...

PS has been running 100's since then, with no issues or anything ... being playing WWE'13, Grid 2, Ghost Recon Future Soldier with no issues ... so last Thursday, I decided to get myself a copy of GT5: Academy Edition, (seeing as how I traded my old copy in, I figured this edition was best, in terms of updates, etc.) ... I decided that I'll install all the necessary requirmentson Thursday night, so that I can run through all the updates on Saturday morning ... I put in GT5: AE, logged onto to PSN, and was prompted to update the game ... struggled my backside off trying to do the V2.08, 223mb update, but finally got it done ... V2.09, at 103mb, was up next ... got the update going until 99%, then I get an error about the download ... I'm scheming, "ok cool, maybe I lost connection" ... restarted the game again, and I get told that it needs to re-install, and that I don't have enough free space to install it ... that's where the fun begins ...

I check my game data, to see if it's still on V2.08, and it shows the GT5 game data as a corrupt file ... wtfh?? ... so after some words with some mates, I was told to free up some space, becuase that could be the problem ... so no worries ... I manage to free up 23gigs of space, and proceed to re-try this GT5 episode ...

By now, I have to re-update from V2.07 ... got to 98% on V2.08, and BOOM!!! ... there was an error with the update and the GT5 Game data is again corrupt ... I decide that this is getting farking ridiculous, and decide to play a bit of Fallout: New Vegas ... after a bit of a lengthy install, I'm told that there was some updates for it, so, being a bit on the skeptical side, I decide to do the updates and see if this "corrupt data" is an issue or what ... managed to update Fallout with no hassles, and I proceeded to enjoy the game ...

Late on Saturday night, I decide to try my luck with GT5: AE again ... and I got the same freaking results ... everytime I try and update the game, it keeps corrupting the game data ... and ironically, that's what happened the last time with GT5, before I decided to hang up my boots ...

I refuse to believe that there is a problem with my PS, as all the other games can be updated and played, without any corruption occuring ... what the hell is going on with GT5 game data??

If any of you guys that can answer me, or even point me in the right direction, will be greatly appreciated, cause this is leaving an awful taste in my mouth ...

I would say, get the XL edition which has up to version 2.05 ON the disc. give that a try. the updates after 2.05 were kinda wimpy compared to the earlier ones.

It seems you need version 2.15 to play online. I've tried installing GT5 updates with 3 different hard drives (5400rpm, 7200rpm and SSD), with a Wired connection (Gigabit connection to 60Mbps FIOS) as well as Wireless (802.11n connected to 60Mbps FIOS) and every time, it fails when it gets to the Installation of Updates, after downloading them. I always get error 80029564. I don't know what else to try. I've been trying for months now!
