2.09 Tracks not loading

i tried to join a lobby on Eiffel and it didn't load, it would go half way then stop, the small screen was black and the PS3 would be loading all the other player cars and voice would be working. but i could go into my garage or anything. only thing that i could do was try to leave the lobby witch at that point the game would just set there in that state.

I tried to rejoin the same lobby 4 times and its still happened just the same, no change. I then tried to load up one of my own eiffel tracks in single player and the same thing happened stuck half way loaded. The only way out of this was quti the game threw my PS button, and even then the system has to force shut down itself to close the game.

I figured it must be a bug with this track so after reinstalling the main game data i joined a Mt Aso lobby, no problems.... up until the host changed the track to nurburgring and the same glitch happened again...

I am not worried about reinstalling everything or if the hard drive it going cause i backup regularly so no worriers there, but this constant BS and glitches and black screens that have pledged this game for its 2 years of being out is has now warn me down. After 12 years of playing Gran Turismo I am saddened to think of finally quitting the series.

Have you tried updating the ps3 itself their is a new update 4.31 the system didnt notify me but i read in another post about it. I clicked on system update and low and behold a new update. I don't know why it didn't do it its self i had it set to. Also like every one says clear the cache in game, delete your messages thru the PS main menu and also if you use your PS3 browser (which i don't recommend unless you got a Virus program) delete the history, cookies ect...
You will be amazed at how much room that stuff takes up.

@Jaywalker this rig has taken some time to build, i'm a welder so building it and modifications are not that hard, the sub does put out some nice bass from engine exhaust and rumble strips but the surround system isnt working atm, the RCA deck that is in the TV craped out, most likely the CPU in it went so have to get a new one now.

@RYZNO I have cleared the cashe and reinstalled the game data but problem is still there. i could try clearing the cookies and history but there probably isn't must there sense i use my PC for web-browsing. I havent tryed checking for a update, going to try that now.

ok i have discovered what tracks do it i think, tracks that have time and weather change... so something is messed up

Might've done this already, but try to start with a new account. It seems like it's a problem with the game data, not the saved data, but still wouldn't hurt to try. Try it when you're offline.

I wiped the game data completely out and reinstalled the game using my save game, it still froze just now when loading up Nurburgring Weather/time change.... why does it seem like I'm the only person getting this

I guess no more weather or time change for me...

So you know, I would freak out if I were you. Free run on time change and weather tracks is my favorite thing to do in the game.

Try renting/borrowing/purchasing another GT5 disc & see if that helps.

yet to be completely confirmed but looks like my 2 year old disc is worn right out, i had a spare from my other PS3 that friends use for playing online so looks like time will tell.

I tried a bunch of weather/time change tracks with various single player events, while logged in, and didn't have any problems. I hope the other disc works for you. Though it's unfortunate if your disc is shot, it would be cheaper to replace than a hard drive or system. Best of luck

I have similar issue since updating to 2.08 from 2.07 and have OS 4.31. The tracks that do no load are Suzuka weather change and Monza weather change, it will shut down the PS3 ( happens to online and offline, including arcade mode ). Obviously not a disc or PS3 overheating, I can play other games just fine for more than 6 hours non stop - my PS3 often stays on for more than a day, playing Bluray movies just fine. Disc is in tip top shape - no scratches.

Here is the kicker, I deleted my game data and save data, revert back to 1.0, no issues whatsoever, all tracks load just fine and smooth - reading from disc ( stop installation checked ) or full install ( read from HDD ). This means disc is fine and HDD is also fine.

I did have some trouble updating to 1.08 - installation error kept occuring- I finally fixed it by deleting game data again and updating GT5 without any installation - I went to option, and click stop installation, then delete game data. I updated GT5 to 2.09 smoothly, tried with a fresh save game, same problem occur, PS3 shut down every time I load Suzuka or Monza weather change ( with full install or no install - disc read = same outcome ). If I delete the game data + update = back to 1.0, everything is fine, both offending tracks load just fine .... now what the hell is wrong PD ? Not HDD, not game disc, not PS3 .... it will only work with 1.0 or any pre 2.08 version .... I have over 50GB free space on my PS3 HDD.
