Two and a quarter thousand police officers is what a police force should use when there's serious threats against society, such as terrorism, mafia/yakuza-activity and such - not reckless driving!

Well, not reckless driving alone. The driver apparently assaulted police officers, but I still think it's overkill.

I'm wondering to how the japanese tax-payers react to this?
