Good morning/evening/any time of day (or night).
Welcome to a very special event, the ultimate test for any driver and car, or at least a more compact, less time consuming version of it.
To celebrate the 90th edition of the Le Mans 24, we have decided to hold our first edition of the Le Mans 2.4.
The track will (naturally) be La Sarthe and the car class will be BOP'd Group 1. Of course our suggestion is for everyone to be driving "period-accurate" LMP1 machines, but nothing is stopping you from showing up in a good old Group C car or a futuristic VGT spaceship if you wish to.
A day-night cycle will be attempted, and variable weather should help us capture the chaotic magic of an endurance race. As for tires and fuel, the presets for this weekend's Nations Cup race at this track. The purpose is threefold: it allows this race to double as practice for the event, it encourages the use of LMP1 cars as they are the ones that will be used in the World Series race and it saves my lazy ass from having to think too much about fuel presets and tire choices.
The race will start at 12:00 CEST (aka the French timezone) after a 15 minute practice session that will determine the starting grid. This scheduling allows you to experience the track firsthand before seeing the real-life race (which starts at 16:00 CEST if anyone is interested). The lobby will be called "2.4 Hours Le Mans 13:00 CEST" and will be open to anyone, as I have no clue as to what the turnout will be. However, you can sign up with your username here to guarantee a starting spot via friend request.
This will (for now) be a standalone event but I'll post the results here with FIA points rankings attached in case we want to turn this into a tradition and crown a 2022 endurance champion (Spa 2.4 anyone?). The race will be broadcasted on my Twitch channel from my perspective, as I will take part and am (so far) the only guaranteed entry. So if anyone is brave enough to try and stop me from running away with the champion's crown or has any advice or suggestion (this is the first event I ever organise and there must be so many problems I'm not seeing, please be kind) you are welcome to comment.
