hey,

would you like to see a 2 disc version of GT5?

like what they had in GT2?

just think about it, if they had all of 25GB on the blu-ray, then there could be some much more tracks, graphics, better physics.....just all over better, then the arcade mode wouyld say just be on a standard DVD? :sly:

Well.... frankly for a while, a disc that big will only be useful for high definition video content, which I would like to see in GT5. Like the histories of various cars, interviews with important people in motorsports (like Kaz-sama himself), racing videos, video of cars doing the Nurburgring, stuff like that. I think it'll be a while till Polyphony has enough game content to fill up a 25gig disc.

Besides, I believe the drive in the PS3 will be dual layer, so you're talking about a single disc with the capacity of around 50 gigs. ;)

There's a reason why hardly any PS2 games came with more than one disc. That is because the game maker has so much data that can't fit on one disc. I completely doubt GT5 will be on two (or more) discs. Other disc would probably be for music, some special CD honoring the Tenth Anniversary of the Gran Turismo series, some Race Queen gravure modelling, all of the music from GT5 so you can take it on the go, or anything which sounds stupid or insane.

Two CDs? I don't think so. What did I say... oh, yeah. I don't think so. You dig me on this?

I keep forgetting that Gran Turismo is going to be celebrating its 10th anniversary. Sonic is going sweet 16, and Mario may be a hundred years old, but Gran Turismo is something special. Out of all the racing games bouncing around in drive trays across the globe, GT may be one of the biggest reasons for reviving the interest of sports car driving. Heck, the Nissan 350Z Gran Turismo Edition is testament to the impact Gran Turismo made on the driving/racing world. What other game can boast such accolades?

Here's hoping that Gran Turismo 5 has some goodies for the fans that helped Polyphony (and Sony) reach a milestone few games can equal.

I would like to see a dual layer Blu-Ray used for GT5, then a Blu-Ray movie of the history of GT. Aswell as history of PD, and other blu-ray movie stuff about GT5.

I'm not sure about 2 disks, it might be a little overkill. It might be a good idea to offer downloadable extra content - comprehensive car histories, 'making of' documentaries etc, available from an official GT website for the PS3's inevitable HardDrive.

A single layer bluray is 25GB. That will be more than enough space.Sonys white coats have a 200GB Disk in development so there will never be the need for more than one disk.

I'd be kind of pissed if it was a 2-disc game. Disc-swapping is dead, and I don't want to see it resurrected on the one system that will never need it.

GT2's disc-swapping was a bad move on PD's part.. To this day, I still don't understand why they did it. Simply pushing a button to swap modes is much better than having to get up and put in the other disc.

Well, you can make the case for certain other PS2 games like Final Fantasy 7-9, Thousand Arms, Chrono Cross, Resident Evil 2, and a few other games which use two or more discs. I think it was because games are just too big to fit onto just one CD back in the PS1 days. And the only time you'll find a second disc is probably if there's a different game for you to play. That's more like "Ridge Racer Type 4" including that Ridge Racer Turbo Edition deal, which was an experiment for the classic Ridge Racer at 60 FPS... which would later produce the (in my view) still lovely Ridge Racer V.

But I don't see Gran Turismo 5 being on two or more CDs. I'm not one of the ones who make stupid and ludicrous claims about the PS3. Until we know more about the PS3 and what it has to offer, I don't think we can make ANY claims. The first batch of games for any console is an understanding of what the console is capable of. Later games are experieneced lessons in that game developers understand the console much more as time goes along. Case in point- Gran Turismo 3 into Gran Turismo 4. Some may argue that GT3 was only a beta compared to GT4, maybe even GT4 being a beta of GT3. GT3 was your average early PS2 disc (except for the dark purple bottom of the CD). GT4 used a dual-layer DVD-ROM to put in a whole lot of stuff into it. It was all about understanding what a console can do and the limits of technology as time progresses. Simply put, PD would be nuts to have one game on two CDs, unless the game is COMPLETELY big.

I still don't see two or more discs happening regardless. I just don't.

Well, I could see it coming on two Blu-Ray discs if the second one was the bonus content of video history, interviews and whatnot. Even with the PS3 drive being able to read a dual layer disc, it might be more cost effective to put any bonus material out on a second disc. But we'll have some clue as to what we're in store for in a few days. Man, Christmas never comes on time anymore! ;)

I would like to see the dual layer discs myself. Maybe stamping them isn't any more trouble than the single layer discs. I know in time, that will be the case, and the costs will drop considerably, and quickly. Well see. Just across the weekend is a Sony press conference, and I'm sure the net will be clogged with gossip and news.

I god, you got me going... >.<

EDIT:
And don't forget Medal Gear Solid, it had 2 disc's, and it was one of the best games ever!
