They do say you tend to pack on the pounds over the holiday season...

Apparently this is the 20,000th post I've typed up here at GTPlanet. I'm the 34th member to hit that milestone — somewhat worryingly, I was the 76th person to hit the 5-digit mark, which means I've definitely been post-whoring it up over the past 3.5 years.

To celebrate, precisely 13 years and 3 months since joining, I'm bringing sexy scavenger hunts back. Due to different board software, they're going to function a little differently than they used to, for those old-timers that remember.

The search bar is much smarter in this iteration of GTPlanet. It can find colour codes, attachments, and just about anything else I looked at. So, simple italicized & underlined instructions at the end of posts will guide you along the way.

The first person to PM me the correct answer (which will be hidden within the final post... look around) will grab a year's worth of GTPlanet Premium. Please, those that do get to the end (or believe they have :sly: ): don't post any hints/answers in this thread! Each member only gets one guess, so make it count!

Let's get started then. Your first hint is below:

It's already been mentioned.

Happy hunting!

Congratulations boss, keep up the great work. :D

Might bother with this once I'm home and on a machine with ad-block.
I get what to do but I'm not gonna waste time waiting for things to load in the background just so I can type text on my phone.

"It's already been mentioned"

Umm... whore? I think the answer is whore.

That's an answer, but to an entirely different question...

Dammit. Last time I got pretty far rather quickly. Now I am stuck on the 3rd clue.

A new feature makes that one a bit more manageable.

TB
I didn't make it very far, either. I think Slipz upped his game this go-round.

I'll share the entire process in the mod room, or in here once somebody guesses correctly.

Onto the 4th clue, no idea where to go from there

Google is your friend. :)

...

I probably should've added that each member is only allowed one guess. It's in the first post now!

Like many others, I'm stuck on that third clue. Thought I'd found what I was looking for, but nope. It really is quite the challenge.

Congratulations on hitting 20k. I'm trying to run through the hunt, but I also have been thwarted after the third clue. I feel I'm on the wrong path, but I've already spent... 6 hours so far on this clue so far, so I may as well finish out this line of thought.

I really want to provide a clue, but I'm worried that the third clue is the hurdle that everyone would then clear and speed to the end. Although maybe not, since it isn't what I'd consider the hardest one...

I am not responsible for any loss in productivity. Just so we're clear. :P

Clue three wasn't too ad once you knew wheree to look. with clue 4 however, I've pretty muxh searched everything its related to and got nowhere

This is why none of you are ever going to reap the rewards of Cicada 3301.

-B... Must try harder.

(Says the one who doesn't even know where to start.)

Congrats to @Jimlaad43 for successfully finding the answer (including intentional spelling error).

The path through the forums (and front page):
  • "It's already been mentioned": My 10,000th post thread.
  • "Two hundred eighty one multiplied by thirteen": My 10 year post thread.
  • "One of the links from the very first example of Slip on the front page": The new comment style of front page articles has resulted in @GTPNewsWire posting links to authors. Here's mine. Head to the very beginning, and you find a post about the 6th week of GT5 Photomode Competitions. Explore the links in that post and you should end up here.
  • "Remember that time I caught Lucky Seven Fever?": FFVII reference to another posting milestone. Back in 2012, I hit 7,777 posts, so my avatar changed and I posted this.
  • "Ah, glad that's worn off. Time to head to Citrus Stone Park!": Silly synonyms. The FM6 Lime Rock Park Hot Lap Leaderboard was the destination here.
  • "––••• •••–– ••••• ••••• –––•• •••-- –––••": Morse code for 7355838. That's a post number. But how to get to a specific post number these days, when thread titles are usually part of the URL? If you're browsing the main forum page, the latest posts in any sub-forum have a shortened URL (just .net/forum/posts/<postnumber>). Copying that link address, pasting it into the address bar, and typing in the morse code number brings you to this post in my GT5 gallery.
  • "Almost there. Head to a dream garage, somewhere between 39 and 911": Simple enough, my post in the Dream Garage thread. Highlight the text between the (BMW E)39 and (Singer) 911 to find "Gran Turimo 2 was the best Gran Turismo." Just to make sure everybody was on their toes!

This was easy, click the link.
Do the sum, search for any post Slip had made with 3653 in it.
This wasn't as annoying as everyone else found it seemingly, I found the authors page and went from there.

This was tough. I found someone reference the "Chaparral 2D" as Lucky Seven, and I basically stalked every post you made about that car. Eventually I Googled it with fever, and found the FF7 reference. Everything from "Lucky 7", "7777" and so on was searched, but to no avail. I had no idea how to search for a user's specific post number, and I thought it would end there, until...
...I searched for "777"...
...which brought me straight to this post. I somehow managed to skip a clue by sheer luck. .777 was one of the (many) times in this post, and I just noticed the edit time at the bottom corner, so knew that was the post. I have to say, the Morse Code was a great curveball, it took an embarrassingly long time to work it out.

I was trying to look for laptimes that were 55.838, maybe in a car from '73. Then I remembered one of my infractions was from a thread about the 6 millionth post, and I remembered someone (who turned out to be me) posting a link to the 6,000,000th post (not including deleted posts). So I found what to type, changed the number to 7355838 and Bingo! The post was there.

And then we're here. 39 and 911 were there, but I had no idea what to do next. Was the answer the Aston Martin or the Nissan? I didn't know, but I did notice what looked like two spaces between a letter. I clicked to check and found a highlighted G. From then on it was simple.

So yeah, congrats on the 20k @SlipZtrEm, and that was a fun but tough game.

Well, glad I didn't spend too much time on this after getting to #3 (linkception much?)

At least the ads aren't so bad today.
