I am sorry that I won't be able to provide any pictures with my write-up, but I'll do my best to make it interesting.
I entered this race with a Dodge Viper GTS with stage 2 weight reduction, port polish, stage 1 NA Tuning, hard sports tires and the best flywheel/clutch. 18 downforce front and behind. My competition was built up like this:
Pagani Zonda C12
TVR Cerbera Speed 6
BMW M5
Shelby Series 1
Mercedes AMG SL65
The amount of a-spec points offered was only 9 points, but I think this amount was kind of off... because while a Viper has a lot of power, it isn't easy to control... definitely not when compared to the Mid Engined Zonda which was also growling at the starting grid.
The Zonda was my only real competition in the race, it wasn't as fast as my car, since I would gain -1 or -2 seconds per lap when I didn't bump into anything, but the first 20 laps I didn't know whether I would be able to win this race. This is because my tires would be blood red after 13 laps already, which also was my pitting strategy. The Zonda could easily last for 19 / 20 laps with the same set of tires.
When I first pitted after 13 laps I was -14 seconds ahead of the Zonda, when I left the pits I was 22 seconds behind, in 3rd place behind the Zonda and Shelby. Right away I started hauling ass because I feel very uncomfortable that far behind. Glad to find out that the Zonda does have to change tires at all I took the lead again at lap 19. Next time I came out of the pits on lap 26 I was 30 seconds ahead and I knew I was going to win this race. From this point on it was just driving laps to the finish at a decent speed, knowing that a very welcome gift was waiting for me at the finish line:
The Minolta Toyota! 👍
