Good to see Team Nasamax back, as well as a Diesel! Shame not much variety in GTS. No Saleens, no Vipers? The GT list is rather short too I think.

Unfortunately, Ferrari dominates GTS. Hopefully the Corvettes can pull off a David and slay their Italian Goliath.

While I was watching Sebring, they said that the Panoz Batmobile would be in the 24 LeMans. It seemed kinda slow . I think the Vettes will have something for the GTS.

The Panoz finished Sebring. And I beleive it placed good for a first race.

But I think this Entry is too early to get excited about. Lets wait till later to get excited over.

Personally, I'd prefer to see more Sportscars/GT cars then prototypes. I've really disagreed with the ACO's entry lists of what cars they allow to enter over the past couple of Le Mans, but hey...
Looks to me like another Audi, Ferrari, and Prosche white wash.
Nothing in that list to get partticualrly excited about for me. The Audi's will battle it amongst themselves, I don't relaly give a care about LMP2, Ferrari I think are definatly gonna run away wit GTS and Porsche will probably run away with NGT.
Though a few nuggets in there. Good to see another close prototype running again. Be it the Panoz, but will be interesting.
Good to see at least a TVR back again and a Morgan. And I will be watching out for the Pagani. Shame how they're all underdogs.

The list does seem to be a bit lacking, and boring. No Vipers, or Saleens, bah.
And only one TVR, with one on reserve that I think has the wrong number (the White Lightning team Porsche has #90), and only one Zonda in GTS, with the rest being Ferraris and Corvettes. Bah, indeed. I hope more gets added in the next month or so.

OK, why aren't there any Japanese cars again this year? Did the Japanese give up on this race? Are they allowed to race anymore?

I agree, there are some very good Japanes cars out there that I think would do well.Maybe they don't meet specs, and I think the Vettes have a chance in GTS.

Um, you guys don't seem to understand. LeMans is INVITATION only. The only things that can change is that teams can drop out and be replaced by reserves. No one else is going to be added.

Umm, it's hard to understand what you don't know. But, thanks for clearing that up for me.

Invitation only; very interesting.

Well not totally. The team does have the ability to gain a place but nothing is guaranteed so typically all the best teams race.
I cant go this year anyway.:(

Teams can apply to be invited though. Generally speaking, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest guarantee a set number of entries to certain competitors each year, based upon previous results and their own seeding process. Other teams then get invited according to some secret formula.

It all then goes to testing and pre-qualification, which happens some time around the middle of May. The teams without guaranteed entries go for Pre-Qual, and that defines the actual entry list.

I'm surprised at the number of Ferraris. It seems that each of the teams running them have been offered two cars.

I think that the lack of diversity in manufacturers has come about through general instability in the rules. And I think you have to put the blame for this at the ACO's door. Mainly because they are slow to react when the FIA and ALMS (or whatever it's called this week) suggest changes to the rules. This has led to the Le Mans race rules moving toward and away from general sportscar racing rules.

If the FIA, ALMS and ACO could get together at the start of each year and decide upon the rules for the following year, I think that you could find a lot of teams becoming available. As it stands at the moment though, there are too many championships, and Le Mans struggles to attract all of the best teams all of the time. It is in fact a testimony to the sheer draw of the race that it has survived all these years, and that people are still prepared to build cars for it.

The set number of entrants is 50 + 6 Reserves. It was 48 a few years ago but 2 extra garages were built so they bumped it up to 50. This year over 60 teams applied, but only 50 were chosen. And yes there are some guarenteed entries, specifically if you are a previous class winner at LeMans, or you were class winner at Sebring or Petit LeMans.

Next year the LMES series will also have automatic entries for the season champions.

So, 359. Where do you get this infomation? I wanna know where you get it, so I know your not lying to the n00b's at GTP.

I'm looking at the reserve list now, and I'm quite surprised to see that the Racing For Holland Dome Judd is in it along with the Konrad Motorsport Saleen S7R. The Dome Judd, because wasn't that the only car driven by Jan Lammers is my memory serves me correctly, that manged to take the fight to the Audi's? I thought that car did quitre well. And the Konrad Saleen, because I surely would of expected at least one Saleen to be in there let alone one run by Konrad who are old hands at Le Mans. I really don't get what the ACO are playing at. I think they seriously need to look at who they select for invitation for Le Mans. If I was them I'd be looking at trying to get the biggest diversity of cars possible. I know it's not that easy, but surely I would take a Ferrari out for a Saleen, a Prosche out for the Tuscan, and one of the LMP's (preferably an Audi ;)) out for the Dome. Personally I couldn't give a flying monkey's for the LMP's as they all seem to look the same (thank good we've got the old Panoz war horse back in there for some diversity). I'd want to see more GT cars, but not all Porsches and Ferrari's. Essh..........
