All porsches own everything....If I had Bill Gates Money, and some day Satan willing I will, I would have every model of porsche, every freaking colour...

I see a lot of Carrera GT in the nose. Obviosly gonna piggyback on supercar enthusiasm.

The specs, 240 hp, and 5.9 s 0-60 mph remind me of the S2000. I bet this was a design benchmark.

While close on the drag strip, these two cars should almost be in different categories...the S2000 is an almost hardcore sports car with tight hard suspension, and crazy rev line...the Boxster however is mostly driven by people on the Boulevard.....much more laid back...not too many people will cross shop the cars....as wonderfull as they both are, in different ways

A lot of Boxsters end up being boulevard cruisers more as a function of the average age of a Porsche owner. Most of them are too old to bother with canyon runs or track days. The cars end up being somewhat laid back because most of the owners prefer them that way. Same thing with the Corvette. And the M3. And the 911 for that matter.

That being said, ever driven a Boxster with M030 sport suspension option? Its basically the equivalent of the Z51 option in the Corvette and the soon-to-be ClubSport option on the M3. Its pretty stiff and is option of choice for Boxster drivers that will actually excersise their expensive little toy.

..and the S2000 isn't particulary hard riding. Its not like an Evo or something.

Pretty much. The Boxster is, as they say in the land of kings and queens, a "hairdresser's car", where the S2000 belongs to down and dirty go fast group.

Again, this is more a function of target demographic than on any basis of performance or depth of quality as a sport car.

Steeda
Kiddie Carrera GT :dopey:
Yep, minus a Honda Civic worth of cylinders and a figter jet worth of composites.

I agree with ///M-Spec. I think that Porsche tried to slot the Boxster slightly below the S2000 on the performance scale, while the Boxster S slots just above it. The sport suspension Boxster is most likely the closest match.

-> The new Boxster truely separates the styling between the 911 (aka. 997) unlike the mini-996 look of the past, actually it eerily looks like the [996] Carrera 4S. But interior strangely mimics the Audi TT. My vote still goes to the Honda S2000 for the car-price ratio, but the Porsche Boxster S will be my second choice among roadsters.

He tried that.
They didn't let his 959 in.

I just realized how much this car looks like a modern version of james deans's ''lil bastrard''

I went to that porsche website but the progress bar just sits at 0%, but Ive seen the pics and I like it. I wouldve gone for a more radical rear end (single circular/ovoid rear lights and some Spyder-ish decklid vents, but as a whole it looks good. I think the coupe looks very cool (theres spy shots an photoshops floating around that resemble these) if a bit much like a smoothed-out Crossfire.

I cant wait for the Boxster GT4RS Coupe :)

Hiya! :D :embarrassed:  Meow! (='.'=)

I really luv the styling of it! :embarrassed::embarrassed: It's like every other Porsche BEFORE IT! :embarrassed: Although sometimes I look at it, it does have alot of some resemblance of iunno how to explain it..like Porsche Carrera and a Boxster kinda put in together to get something so beautiful like this  :embarrassed:

McA, that's porsche for ya :)

Admitting their styling, while stunning, wasn't exactly remembering the older models, then stepping back while stepping forward on the 997, then taking a step forward altogether distinguishing the Boxter from the 997 while adding some Careera GT while throwing in a little bit of it's own. I like it 👍

Do you mind if I call you McA?

Yea.. I wish that Porsche for me, but I would prefer my own McLaren F1 with a special badge on it that reads "Angel Edition" :embarrassed::embarrassed::embarrassed:

And yeam you can call me McA, but hopefully nothing bad :grumpy: :embarrassed:

Anyways...back onto topic! :embarrassed: I really like how Porsche is still using that front end look on all their cars so far. It's a way to tell its a Porsche by just looking at the front, no need to look for that badge that says "Porsche" I do find it hard at times to look at the picture of it and think how the public people would react to it when it is on the public road.
It can be confusing sometimes from a far distance because that car can look like a Porsche Carrera or a Boxster.

The odd thing is that Porsche claimed that one of the chief aims was to differentiate the Boxster from the 911, yet the 997 and new Boxster are once again quite similar. A mini- Carrera GT would have been the ticket, just as the new SLK borrows successfully from the SLR.
