Yoshiyuki Hayashi is a famous Japanese car collector, who owns numerous cars of great historical value, including several Ferraris such as the 166MM, the 250 Spider California, two Daytonas – a coupé and a spider – and the Enzo. In the classic tradition of the keen purchaser of exclusive cars who stimulated the creativeness of Italian coachbuilders in the 1950s and 1960s, Yushiyuki Hayashi asked Zagato if it would be possible to create a body for his 575M, in the style of the famous 250GTZ berlinetta.

When Zagato received this request, it informed Ferrari of the project, which would be a good opportunity to celebrate the model’s anniversary, and then created a car that harked back to the 250 GTZ, built around the Ferrari 575. Like its forebear, the 575 GTZ has an all-aluminium body, and, as a tribute to Ferrari and to two-seater Italian sports cars, it has joined the exclusive group of cars that are the fruit of the tradition of custom-built cars.

Like the 250 GTZ, it sports two-tone paintwork with styling cues and volumes that explicitly refer back to the 1950s, and sublimates the character of the many cars built by Zagato to clothe original engineering, with the pure style of traditional sports cars.

For Zagato, the project represented an opportunity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Ferrari 250 GTZ of 1956, one of the most outstanding GT cars, which has already gone down in history. The model, which was also commissioned by a gentleman driver and collector, in the best Zagato tradition, is a sublime synthesis of prestige and performance, elegance and sportiness, to the point that it can boast the highest value of any car in the luxury period sports car market. The 250 GTZ has won numerous competitions and concours d’élégance, and it represents a dream come true, because experts and fans consider it one of the most beautiful cars in the world.

The new 575 GTZ has the Ferrari prancing horse on its bonnet and the Z of Zagato on its side, an expression of eternal Italian excellence in its form and content. It is a winning combination, linking the most powerful, famous engineering in the world with the most refined, fascinating sporting style, both made strictly in Italy.

The concept of sporty elegance, functional design that does not merely follow the trend of the moment but strives for pure performance, and the ultra-light aluminium body are Zagato’s strengths which become a universally recognised value. Just as in the 1956, the 250GTZ was showed at the most important concours d’elegance, 50 years later, the 575GTZ was presented in a world premier at Villa D’Este Concours D’Elegance, Cernobbio (Italy) April 22 th -24th.

I like it, but I don't think I would ask to have one built for me. Atleast they did something a little different, but I don't know why they didn't use the upcomming 599 as a base instead of wrecking a beautiful 575M.

i dont like it at all...doesnt look or feel like a ferarri. the body doesnt look right and its just a little too busy. also the two tone paint doesnt work for me either...not for me

I think that looks great, sure it doesn't look like any modern Ferrari, but so what, it has style cue's from classic Ferrari's and overall I like it, a lot.

I love most of Zagato's designs, but this is no looker - at least its a one-off

Looks like a TVR Cerbera... I wouldn't kick it out of my garage for backfiring, though

I'm not seeing much Cerbera there tbh.

I'd like to see those pics photoshop'd up in Ferrari Red, or a Yellow.

The part that throws me, is the color. Grey doesn't do it justice.

Are there any skilled P-shoppers around, that could alter those pics?

Yeah, gray is too boring on a sports car, even white looks better. It reminds me of that crappy color on that performance Murcielago.

To me it seems like a confused design, almost like there were different diesigners on different parts of the car. It just doesn't gell.

No cerbera in that for me neither.

Way to go ferrari, keep up the good work making ugly cars. Which ferrari was the last good looker? The 360. The 430 is a step backwards and the rest of the lineups just gone downhill from there too.

I have to say its a cool expression of Ferrari retroness.

As for "the rest of the line has gone down hill" have you not seen the 599 GTB?

I've never drooled over a Ferrari so much.

The F355 was the last great looking Ferrari imo, but seeing a few 360's and 575's in the metal, they still look good.

Oddly, its the first Ferrari since the 1970's thats really gotten my blood boiling (barring the sounds, of course) the styling just hasn't done much.

Sure, they were nice looking cars, but older ferraris were wacky looking.

For once I agree with you Poverty.

Ferrari's aren't my cup o' tea at all.

Here's the funny thing about this car... the front looks fine, but the taillights of the car kind of looks like the front headlights of the Ferrari F430. I like the looks of the car, though I'd rather Rosso Ferrari than most other colors. The vintage look is very classic with this automobile. I actually like this car. I actually like most modern Ferrari styling since the F430. People usually want to talk about how modern Ferrari styling has gone to Hell in recent times. I actually think it looks better than the 550 Maranello and 575's. I never really liked those Ferraris. This design is cleaner and more attractive to me than the 550 Maranello and 575 Ferraris. It's modernized... now, this is more of vintage than retro. I usually think retro is associated with times on and after 1970, while vintage is more of on and before 1969. This is a nice vintage look. I bet Ferrari purists would rather an old Ferrari Dino or a 250GT than this machine.

I think the design is very clean. My only gripes about this design a few extra vents and how sharp the corners of the side and rear windows seem to connect to each other. Those are my only gripes about the car, but out of 100% approval, I'll present this car with 95% approval. It's an almost perfect design that falls short in only two design areas. And PLEASE... don't forget Ferrari Red for this thing! Ferrari Red for Ferrari is like British Racing Green for most British cars. They just go together unlike any other color. Still, I like this design very much. I like this more than the 550 Maranello and the 575 lineup.

For many of the other comments, I hated the 355 F1. The 599 GTB is very nice. Only modern Ferrari I don't like is the Enzo. Power and performance aside, it just looks almost completely off for me. The F40 is alright, but I'm more of an F50 guy.

While we're on the subject of Ferrari styling, what exactly IS Ferrari style? What designates a car as a Ferrari without listening to the engine or looking for the prancing horse badge? What is this Ferrari styling that has been lost in translation to many people? Let me know because I've liked many of the newer Ferraris since the F430.

Ferrari's style is a prancing horse on the grille and the rest is whatever the hell they want it to be .

+1 It's a real good thing it does not resemble any modern Ferrari since it's currently one of the worst generation for the automaker in my opinion. I rather like this redition...so it will be built then?
