I think it's safe to say PDR will be testing for McLaren.

Along with Gary Paffet, then Nelson Piquet Jr. is Renault's tester and James Rossiter is Honda's second tester.

Oh and Michael Ammermuller is Red Bull test driver.

:)

Narain Karthikeyan is still testing at Williams for another year with his Tata money. I also believe Kazuki Nakajima is testing for Williams, not Toyota.

Toyota have Frank Montagny and Kohei Hirate, I think.

Dunc – Pedro had a contract signed for McLaren but the position was never revieled, so with Lewis racing that confirms it.

Sato and Davidson are also confirmed as the race drivers for Super Aguri. Albers is confirmed at Spyker, everything is up in the air at STR (apparantly).

As far as semantics go, the drivers numbers are:

1. F. Alonso
2. L. Hamilton

3. G. Fisichella
4. H. Kovalainen

5. F. Massa
6. K. Räikkönen

7. J. Button
8. R. Barrichello

9. N. Heidfeld
10. R. Kubica

11. R. Schumacher
12. J. Trulli

14. D. Coulthard
15. M. Webber

16. N. Rosberg
17. A. Wurz

18. Scuderia Toro Rosso – Driver 1
19. Scuderia Toro Rosso – Driver 2

20. C. Albers
21. Spyker F1 Team – Driver 2

22. T. Sato
23. A. Davidson

I have heard a few names floating around for Toro Rosso, one of which was Sebastien Bourdais but he has now said he wants to defends his champ car title in 2007. Narain Karthikeyan has also been mentioned in relation to a seat at Toro Rosso but in all honesty i would be suprised if Liuzzi and Speed dont keep their seats. Also isnt Nelson Piquet Jr Renault test driver?

Bourdais has had a contract for 2007 with Newman-Haas for quite a while, I don’t really know what the purpose of the test is, perhaps they’re looking for him as a condidate to replace Coulthard or Webber in 2008…

Where did you read that about Karthikeyan? I’m certain he has a contract at Williams.

And yes, Piquet is a test driver for Renault this season, he will probably replace Fisichella in 2008 (or before that if Kovalainen beats him too badly). If I recall, Piquet has set faster times than Kovalainen in most test sessions they’ve both been involved in, so he could be in a good position to replace Fisichella, sooner rather than later.

Why does a driver and team say that they have a concract and then at the half of the season they kick him out. I don't get that, he has a concract doesn he?

As long as they get paid as per the contract, the team does not have to actually allow him to drive the car.

The ideal point of any contract is for both parties to get what's best for each of them. There's plenty of stipulations in there...you know, like spraying mace on a London cabbie and winding up in jail...you've got the right to a replacement driver at that point.

I don't see why a team would NOT want Montiero. The guy has a podium finish under his belt. 👍

Montiero's the latest incarnation of Olivier Panis; an above average driver, brings home the car without causing stupid mistakes, but has almost no opportunity to show us if he's a great racer.

I'd like to see him in something more competitive, though.
