Forum members (PAL & NTSC) ::Tournament Format
Welcome to the 2009 Gran Turismo 24 Hour World Cup. This tournament will be setup to work in a similar way to the Football World Cup. The initial group stages will be selected at random and racers will race everyone in their groups once. This will be followed by a knockout phase where the winners and runners up from the various group stages will compete until we reach the Quarter finals, Semi finals and eventually the Grand Final.
The big difference with this tournament is that it will truly be a World Cup, with racers from all over the world (PAL & NTSC) being able to compete. Racers will receive weekly pairings from their group and once they have agreed a date to race will have 24 hours to complete their best hotlap (this provides flexibility for those who work/have kids/Wives/or a life in general), save the replay and then submit them to the group co-ordinators. Co-ordinators will verify the lap, check the time it was completed and then award points as necessary - 3 points for the quickest time, 1 for a dead heat (not very likely but you never know) and 0 points for 2nd place
Once the group stages are completed we will move into a knockout phase (still using the method above), and then eventually the Quarter Final, Semi Final, and then the Grand Final.
Vehicle/Track/Tune Specifics
Each week will see a different Car/Track/Tune to really mix things up. One week may be a standard time trial in the Nissan GTR R35 around the High Speed Ring whilst the next could see us using a featured tune for the Ferrari F430 around the Fuji circuit. What ever the case, there should always be something to enjoy !!
Tuners from around the world will be invited to submit Car/Track/Tune combinations for different race weeks.
Start Date
Entries will be accepted up until 23:59 on Friday 3rd April 2009. With the draws for the group stages being announced over the weekend of the 3rd/4th April. The First race week will officially kick off on Monday April 6th.
Participants
This is designed to be a fun competition for anyone thats part of the GT Planet forums and wants to get involved, so get your names down and watch this space for further announcements.
Ill be looking to appoint 1 PAL & 1 NTSC Admin per group (for viewing replays & confirming times etc), so if you want to be considered for this please add *PAL or *NTSC next to your name.
