I thought of doing a one time the other day...
Now I think of different events or series all the time (as I'm sure most of you do) but thinking of what I'm about to tell you made me both laugh and get really hyped.
And this is what the idea is:
Take a premium Le Mans prototype, either the Peugeot, Audi or Mazda and spec it out to have as little horsepower as possible by using the engine limiter... now race them against 15 other people and I think we have a hilarious and winning formula for all. Seriously close racing in Le Mans monsters.
I'm still trying to come up with a funny little name for it, something punny like " The ran out of gas LMP GP" or " Le Mans Proto-lites"
I dunno, I just want to do this for fun and only once. So I'll need help in deciding how exactly it'll go down since it's going to be a single race, maybe a couple if it's fun enough.
But I'm at work at the moment so I kind of just pulled the 200hp figure out of my Gran TurAssmo. If anyone's interested and down to help, go ahead and buy one of the premium LMPs and dial it down as far as it'll go and report.
We'll probably be racing on Sports tires as well.
I'm thinking of coming up with a campy little story to go along with it like, " The big report from Le Mans France today is that the famous race series has put a ban on all homogulated racing engines to be used in their annual 24 Hours race. The leaked reports coming in describe a new series where all cars will be mandated to use stock engines ripped directly from Renault Meganes... the ever expanding credit crunch and environmental awareness campaigns have put an interesting pressure on racing series to find more ways to entertain the race goers and keep their teams engaged. This year, 24 hours might feel a little longer than years past"
This is a general discussion thread at the moment. I'll re-name the thread when we finish deciding on the details and take sign ups. We'll be keeping it simple this time around so the first 21 to sign up will make up the field.
