Qualifying

There will be 2 Qualifying sessions in which drivers can attempt to set a qualifying time:

Thursday, September 11: 10pm ACST

Thursday, September 18: 7pm ACST

The first qualifying night will have a single 20 minute session. This is to allow drivers time to get comfortable with the track following the 2nd round of the Track Stars TCS. The 2nd qualifying night which will take place before the race begins will be 10 minute sessions with the number of sessions depending on entries.

Race

The race will take place on Thursday, the 18th of September.

The race night will begin at 7:30pm ACST. The timetable is as follows

7:30pm ACST – Room Opens

7:50pm ACST – Cars to the Track for Spec Checking

8:00pm ACST – Race Start

Race Start

The race will use a different start procedure to all other Track Stars Touring Car Series Rounds. The race will be set to 126 laps with the 1st lap being a formation lap. Cars will set off a 100km/h with all drivers leaving a few car length gap to avoid any incidents. Approaching the last corner, Cars will then slow to 80km/h with the odd numbered starting position cars lining up on the left side and the even numbered starting position cars lining up on the right hand side. Once the lead car reaches the painted grid spots they can decide when to accelerate. When either the lead car accelerates or reaches the Start/Finish Line, the race is then green and drivers are free to begin racing.

Racing Rules

Contact

As this is a Touring Car series and damage will be turned off to make the series more enjoyable, we will allow minor rubbing and some banging and as long as no one is disadvantaged we will let it go. If someone is forced off the track / into a wall / spun out or caused to lose more than 1 position due to contact then it will be investigated and penalties will be applied as necessary.

Pit Entries/Exits

When entering and exiting the pit lane, drivers must observe any white line or grassed areas which separate the Entry/Exit of Pit Lane and the race track. 10 Second Penalty will be applied for drivers crossing any white lines or grassed areas when leaving or rejoining the circuit.

Corner Cutting

Driver must respect the track limits at all times during qualifying and racing. Drivers cutting corners and gaining any positions or a significant amount of time without readdressing during racing while be penalized with either a time penalty or demotion of positions. During Qualifying it is expected that drivers are capable of self policing their corner cutting and if they do gain an advantage, they back off during that lap. Generally, the track limits will be a maximum of 2 wheels on the grass or on the inside of the track.

Jump Starts

Drivers must be aware that a grid start with false start check will be used at the beginning of race and that if the brakes are not kept on you will receive a 5 second penalty as soon as the race begins.

Entries

There will be 15 positions available. The 9 competitors who have signed up for the Track Stars Touring Car Series prior to the beginning of the series are guaranteed a grid spot for the High Speed Ring 500. 6 positions will be made available for anyone else who wishes to enter the event. In the event that more than 15 entries are received for the race, then the fastest 6 qualifiers who had not signed up prior to the opening round will fill the remaining 6 spots. There are no limits of the number of cars per manufacturer for this race.

Entry is open to anyone who can make the time slot.

Drivers Briefing - Round 3 High Speed Ring 500

Laps: 126 (1 Form Up Lap + 125 Laps)

After another excellent round at Deep Forrest Raceway on Thursday Night there really isnt much to say except for a few specific details regarding the High Speed Ring 500.

Qualifying

Thanks to the 3 other drivers who stuck around for the 1st round of Qualifying. It was a very close session with MTLA1984 just coming out on top to claim the provisional pole position. The target has now been set at 1:06.930.

We will begin the night earlier this week. The room will open at 7pm ACST, with another 10 minute qualifying session for those who missed our original session on Thursday. This will then finalise the grid for the race, with the best times from both sessions sorting the starting lineup.

Race Start

Once qualifying is complete and I have worked out starting positions, the race will be set to begin. Where you are lined up on the starting grid will not be of importance. What will be important to remember is your actual starting position as we will be doing a pace lap before beginning the race. All drivers will take of at 100km/h with exceptions made to those making there way into their starting position. Approaching the final corner, all drivers will slow to 60km/h and form up double file. Once the pole sitter reaches the painted grid slots he is entitled to accelerate and the race will be green. If the pole sitter does not accelerate before the Start/Finish line then the race will be green and you are free to overtake.

Pit Stops

Due to the potential for differences in tyre life found during series setup, it has been determined prior to the series beginning that there will be 6 Compulsory Pit Stops during the race. It will be up to each driver to make sure they complete all pit stops. If you fail to complete 6 Stops then you will be disqualified from the race.

Pit Entry/Exit

As general ettiquete, please pull to the left hand side of the track before entering pit lane as it is a blind entry into pit lane as a result of the exit of the tunnel being immediately prior to Pit Entry. Drivers must also observe the White Lines Exiting Pit Lane.

Good Luck to everyone taking part and I hope to see you all on Thursday.
