2014 Pirelli Hungarian Grand Prix

IIRC Riccardo has a 1 year contract.

Will he get a 2, 3 year one with RBR or will he get offers from others?

Would love to see the Lewis block again on Nico, looked unfair to me. Also Ricciardo and Alonso drives of the day

Might be worth watching the highlights for this one again later. What an unexpected top-three finish.

Don't lose that smile DR. 👍

Fantastic race!! Easily the best of the season.

Congratulations to Ricciardo - and disappointing for Alonso, depsite a great result - it must be hard to take to lose the win so near to the end.

No love lost between Rosberg and Hamilton - Nico will be furious that Lewis didn't let him passed earlier, and probably won't be happy about that last lap defensive manoeuver either. Expect handbags shortly :P The team may also be less than impressed - I think Hamilton made the right call for him - he beat Nico - but Nico was so fast in the last stint that Hamilton may have cost him the race win today.

I think Red Bull will be making moves to keep him while Ricciardo will probably be holding out for news on next year's engine, see how far the permitted changes take it. His value to other teams is certainly going up while he waits, if that's what he's doing.

Great job by Lewis to get 3rd, but the weather helped him today. Maybe Merc should have gone with softs like Alonso I don't know.

Anyway Ricciardo = Brilliant

I'm going to be brief. Firstly, I'm not angry (and I don't appreciate you inferring that I'm some raging keyboard warrior), but this isn't the first time you've attempted to rebut a comment of mine by bringing up anti Hamilton bias that I have gone out of my way not to post on the forum for the last two and a half years. In short, it's a petty non-argument and only serves to kill any kind of reasonable discussion I expect to have with you. I'm aware that I got into a few heated discussions a few years ago, and I'm aware that I may have crossed a line, but I also think I was correct at times. The kind of anti Vettel bias on display here was no worse than my anti Hamilton bias from his silly season.

Then don't come out the wood work over a nothing comment as if it was something more than that. You blew it up into something it wasn't and shouldn't have. No and it wont be the last time, because I know that you along with other users have a set bias, so when you talk about something on the subject that you have that particular bias about it's going to be hard to see you speaking in any impartial way.

Also it didn't look like you were willing to have an reasonable anything with me if you were I doubt you would have responded to me like that as if I wanted to see the waters part for Lewis.

Sure, I don't like Hamilton, but that has absolutely zero to do with this. Sure, hindsight's a wonderful thing, but to suggest Vettel should have given up a place, despite being able to keep up with those in front and despite not having to be overly defensive is ridiculous. That is the bs I'm fed up with. This is racing. There was absolutely zero reason to give up a place. I think even Lewis himself would agree.

He was quite defensive hence why his front brakes were lit up, he kept locking up (not as much as Vergne) and you could see major graining on the back of the tires. I'd rather have seen Vettel in the fight for the win with Rosberg and DR (and to save my predictions) than nearly end the day. Also the giving up of positions is what racing has become when you factor in the long run and I don't care what Lewis thinks I don't speak for him this what I think.

Perhaps you should think about yourself and your own biases. The mere suggestion that he should have given up the place seems like a fantastical fanboy wish.

Sure it does to you and yet some how you're not looking at this with bias?:indiff: The whole fanboy bit once again is uncalled for since that wasn't a comment in favor of Lewis.
If Mercedes' would've boxed Nico when I said they should've he would've finished 2nd. The DNA of BAR and Honda is clearly still in the team.

I don't know if I would have gone that far it may just be the bad decisions of Mclaren carried over by Patty. Other than that I agree with you they should have brought him in early, because of the fact that I knew they'd stick with the stint for LH.

What a cracker of a race!

Well done Danny boy. A magnificent drive and a demon pass on Fernando.

Some impressive names in the background that Ricciardo has added his name to, Emerson Fittipaldi and Jackie Stewart to name a couple.

EDIT: I think they're just the world champions not winners of the Hungarian GP as I had thought.

Congratz for Ricciardo. Really stoke for him! The drive for Alonso is superb! With Hammy manage to fend off Nico on the last lap, it's great!

All I know is that the temperature are rising inside Merc. garage!
Roll on the summer break. Can't wait the next race to resume!

If Ricciardo smiles and nods any more he'll actually get whiplash. Good win, very good win and deserved. Bah.

Good position for Alonso, the Ferrari seems a bit better overall since they took the improvements off, but he and Raikkkkonnnnennn each "know what they're doing", and don't have to be told every ten seconds.

Unlike Charlie Whiting, it seems, his inbox filled up quick, that seemed to annoy Kravitz who started a choked-up quavering rant about it only to be cut off as the cameras picked up paint drying elsewhere.

Hamilton did well, he might be instinctively disappointed with sird, I mean third, but he's on the podium and The Other Guy isn't. The Other Guy will not be happy though, that'll be the topic of much discussion.

A bloody good race, bloody good indeed.

yes i'm sure Alo/Ric's moving up 3 places is way more impressive than a pitlane start to podium.

Lewis got lucky with Safety cars, Fernando and Daniel didn't have the fastest cars and kept lewis at bay. Heck if Lewis had let Nico passed he wouldn't have finished on the podium, Lewis had a very good race but not Drive of the day.

Yes but Alonso did this in a horrible car and on the faster tire lasting I think as long or longer than Lewis.
Stop it with Ferrari is horrible nonsense. It's no Merc, but it's clearly tied for 2nd with all other competitive non merc cars.

And Lewis had trouble free race? And Nicos brake issues didnt contribute? And safety cars had no role in the pitstop strategy of Alo/Ric?

Try and justify your comments all you like, it's not as if Vettel was falling behind at 1 second per lap and was defending extremely aggressively. And again, you bring up my anti Hamilton bias, which had zero to do with this, whilst ignoring your own pro Hamilton bias. I would have responded in a similar vein if you had picked any other drivers and put them in the same situation. To suggest that someone should give up a place given the situation was ridiculous. They're racing drivers. If Hamilton wants to pass, he has to work for it. He sure makes it hard on others, even if his tires are destroyed.

And as for "blowing this up", I simply responded to a ridiculous comment with the kind of response it deserved.
