Congratulations! Do you have any other plans in mind for it?

Thanks, not really sure for now...I really want to get a feel for the car. I really don;t think it needs much if anything to make it perform better, especially handling-wise.

I will say congrats again. Especially since I think you are the first member on here to have a 2015 wrx. My favorite color too. :)

Some questions. Some will be repeated questions.
  • How do the seats feel on long rides?
  • How quick until the heat kicks on for the heated seats?
  • Does the sunroof/moonroof work the same as the other WRX models?
  • How is the 6 speed?
  • What is the RPM when you are at 70mph? (I think its around 2,500) My 04 is around 3,000 rpm @ 70mph and is ridiculous. Hate it reving that high
  • Does the Limited (premium) version have twin turbo or single?
  • Have you driven it in the snow yet? These cars are already amazing in the snow
  • How is the ride?
  • How does it sound? Engine/Turbos?
  • What exact size and style wheels are you going with?
  • Does it go into reverse with ease?

These newer WRX/STi look so much better without the wing. Congrats on the car and keep us posted on what you do and whenever you get some pics. Also, I dig your avatar, Cerati is great.

Sure thing, as long as I can be of help you can ask all the questions you like, I will answer in the exact order you asked so here goes :)

* Seats are very well bolstered and are fairly comfortable, I drive a bunch. I am not a big guy by any means (5'8 152 lbs) and the seats could use a bit more bolstering on the sides to hug me better on high speed turns but maybe I could gain a few pounds.
* The heat starts to be felt very quick, an estimate would be 1-2 minutes, this car unlike the 13 WRX also heats up the lumbar area of the seat as well as the seat cushion itself. (what is awesome is the windshield wiper de-icer, this is priceless!)
* The Sunroof/Moonroof works exactly like my 13 WRX, can't say much about earlier models though.
* The transmission feels like cocking a rifle, it feels very mechanical, first into second feel solid but slightly notchy, not in a bad way though, but like you are literally sliding a piece of metal into another. I can;t really describe it well enough and for that I apologize, it's not a bad feeling at all, it's just very different from any car I have ever driven. Very very short throws though, that is for certain.
* @ 70 it's slighly above 2K RPM I would guestimate 2300, I will get back to you tomorrow with that one.
* The premium as well as all 2015 WRX have a twin scroll turbo. Base, premium or limited have the same engine configuration.
* I have not driven it in the snow, but as far as capability goes I can attest to the WRX's dominance over any car in it's class and above. I had snow tires on my 13 and literally drove with the utmost confidence in 2-3 inches of snow on the ground.
*The ride is solid, but not jarring, it's like a very well dampened car, it absorbs bumps well and it quite compliant on uneven road surfaces. Good suspension setup for sure. The magazines/websites that say this car is too stiff are smoking crack
* The engine sound has been toned down quite a bit compared to my 13 but what is extremely audible is the turbo itself, even the slightest acceleration and you clearly hear the turbo whistling away, it really sounds cool, I haven;t really beat on it, but I would assume it gets loader(the turbo) the higher you go in the rev range. At least around town at around 3k rpm it is very very obvious that it wants to go.
*As of now I am running 235/45 17's (stock) I will switching over to 18's in a week or so, not quite sure what the exact tire size are appropriate for that rim, but I would keep it as close to the stock STi as possible with some really sticky tires, likely some Advan's..
* Reverse engages smoothly, you pull up a lever under the shift knob with your fingers and slide it into reverse, you are then greeted with a very very potent and high quality rear view camera in the center display.

It really is all that and a bag of chips, I think this car is definitely worth a test drive for anyone cross shopping or even thinking about an AWD vehicle.

OMG, I am actually surprised someone actually recognized the avatar, and yes the wing is overdone and tacky. I could have had the same colored Sti but though it looked lame, plus 23 mpg? If they ever upgrade the engine I will consider it, but for now the WRX is the one to get. Everywhere I go people love the car, ask me about it, etc. It's been only two days with it and all I see is thumbs ups.

(Saludos cordiales boricua, soy de Ponce y me mude hace 2 anos pero no quita de que la nostalgia se apodere de uno, jamas pense que hubieran boricuas aqui en GTP, que cosa :) )

Yeah I love the Bocanada album as well as Soda Stereo. Like you said, considering the current STi has the same engine as the past gen one it's not worth the extra cash, especially if you're modding.

(Que sorpresa, saludos de vuelta. Hay uno que otro boricua en GTP pero no postean mucho, bueno saber que hay alguien mas de puertorro y con buen gusto jaja)

Thank you for the excellent detailed reply. I wanted to mention that my 2004 wrx also has the windshield wiper de-icer and yes it is excellent. Glad to hear they still have that feature in the 2015.
I also like that you have to pull up a lever to go into reverse. As most subie owners know, reverse has always been a bit gritty on these cars. Sounds like they have finally resolved that issue in the 2015 with that pull up mechanism.
I contacted the dealer and for them to reserve a car for me is a non refundable $500.00. So for now I will just wait until they get one in for me to drive. I don't want to put down a $500.00 commitment just yet. Thanks again for the replies and feedback of your new ride.

Do you have any other plans for the car? Road track, autocross, or just take it easy as a daily driver? One thing I wish these cars had was an adjustable lumbar support for the back and sides. Would make a huge difference. I will be watching this thread daily and look forward to any pics, updates, or info you post.

You're very welcome! I would autocross it, but tracks are few and far between here in MA. I used to autocross my 06 S2K, and that was as much fun as you could have, with your clothes on, it's a fun hobby but can get expensive. I would certainly do the same for the WRX but I simply don't have the time. Usually by the weekends I am burned out from work and like to relax with the wife. I think this car's purpose will maintain as a daily driver with maybe some bolt ons like an spt exhaust, but really nothing much more than that. I'll update the thread on Saturday afternoon with the tint. Thanks for all the comments boys!

The other risk with taking a car to an autocross or road track event is the fact you are NOT covered by insurance. So if you wreck your precious, you are in bad shape. Thats why I have the Camaro for road track / autocross. If I wreck it, no loss and easy to repair. A new car on the other hand would be painful. Especially your daily driver.

Looking forward to the tint update and especially the exhaust update. I see it has dual exhaust setup so are you going to get 2 mufflers or just 1 muffler and keep the existing tips? Is there a break in period for the engine? Or are you free to drive how you want?

I have broken in all of my cars the same way, and none have ever given me any trouble in the long haul whatsoever. I will break the car in and drive it relatively tame for the first 200-300 miles, then gradually get a little more aggressive over a certain period of time until about 500-600 miles, then all bets are off. The book says to break the car in for 1000 miles...there is no way in hell I am doing that. The engine is not made of butter.

I will just get an SPT exhaust, they will have the same layout as now.

Small update: Rims arrived last week, but are in the wrong color. I ordered the dark gunmetal and received the light gray Sti rims. Bummer, but no big deal. The car is tinted and looks sick, it's darker than I expected but it looks really nice!

I will post some pics later on due to the fact it's been raining on and off for the past few days here in MA and the car is dirty.

Still getting ALOT of looks and questions every time I stop the car. Another subie enthusiast in an 11' WRX chased me down into a gas station. Real cool guy, and actually though it looked nasty in pics but though it looked much better in person.

So far so good with the car, I am really getting the hang of the clutch and shifter, making quick getaways is getting easier and easier, granted you don't have to launch the car at red line to scoot off, a well modulated 2-3k rpm lift off works wonders! Really great car..

At night this car's headlamps are very impressive. I have had and S2k, EVO X and 370z and this car's lights are way brighter than anything I've owned in the past and have a very blue hue to the light. The interior illumination kit is also very cool (lights up the foot well in red) I think it looks sexy as hell.

I will wash the car and post some pics soon :)

Sounds great especially the night illumination. I am still trying to get some seat action in one of these. Sounds like there wont be any available for me to drive until next month. Looking forward to seeing pics of the new tint and the new wheels when they deliver the correct color.

And here she is tinted up. Sorry I haven't posted pics earlier but I recently bought a XBOX 360 and have discovered this wonderful thing called Forza 4. I have been hooked like I was when the original Need for Speed came out for PsOne. Oh man...So in short, Sti rims have been refunded, they appear to not have them in stock but are back ordered do who knows when they will arrive. I will take some interior shots of the lighting package soon, and maybe post a video although it would be difficult, maybe I can get my wife to hold the camera, she loves it when I beat on the new Rex. :)

Sorry to hear about the wheels but at least they refunded your money. The tint turned out great. Congrats on your recent 360 / Forza 4 purchase. Very addictive game for sure. I still think its personally THE best simulation game I have played. The 360 could easily keep you busy for many years. There is an insane amount of great games for the 360.

So how do you feel having a BRAND new car? What happens when you get scratches, dents, or chips in the paint? I talked with the dealership for about 3 hours checking out my options. Just seems like it would be so stressful driving a BRAND new car. Are you leasing or buying?

Battlescares Camaroboy ;)

It's that doubled edged sword. You have a brand new car (smell, 1st owner) and on the other hand you have the depreciation, the first scares in the paint.

Have I told you how incredibly jealous I am of you? No?

I'm incredibly jealous of you. :D

Cam, I have purchased various cars brand new, all of my cars except for my slightly used 97 Integra GSR when I was 16 were new. There is an inherent worry but as my dad told me once; "it's only metal". At my office we have underground parking, at my home it's usually garaged.

It is quite a pain in the ass when driving around idiots though, but I have gotten used to it. With all of my cars, the S2K, EVO X, 370z and my WRX's I tend to drive faster than the crowd, being bunched up in traffic or behind grandma Dolores taking her sunday drive always leads to problems. I also get to work earlier just to beat the traffic, not so lucky on the drive back from Boston though. Good tunes and some patience goes a lonnggg way.

Ding, and scratch wise it's all part of the territory, It's going to happen regardless, just keep on top of cleaning and waxing the car and it should look great for years to come. BUT since we both live in pretty snowy areas so salt can and will be a killer of calipers and anything under the car. I have a buddy who owns a dealership who lets me spray my car down with a pressure washer every 2 weeks or so as long as the salt doesn't seep into the metals it should be fine.

I purchased the car, no lease, although leasing is not a bad option. I leased my wife's car and monthly payments are a cakewalk. Plus she doesnt drive a whole lot so we're good.

As for Forza 4.....some may say blasphemy and I do have a long passion for GT but Forza 4 drinks GT 5 and 6's milkshake..Nurburgring could be modeled a little more like GT but all of the other tracks are insane. Maple Valley FTW.

Lol, no worries, The U.K version of the car should be even better than this car. It's funny though, I work for a London based company and I had to travel to the U.K for training, the boys were all gear heads so I showed them pics of the car and they loved it. They though it looked much better without the "goofy" spoiler. (that is verbatim)

Great city London, as well as Wolverhampton.

As far as I'm aware, they're not selling the 2015 WRX in the UK. I just looked on the Subaru UK website and the only thing under Impreza is the 1.6i RC. :(

Really??!! Wow, that's strange! I saw so many awesome cars in the U.K, a co-worker from Wolverhampton has and FQ400! That car is absurdly quick....He even took off the "goofy" wing :)

I am sure it will get there eventually?

I'm sure many people will import them from Japan - hopefully so as I'd love to own one in the future :D. But I'm sure I read something about Subaru not selling the Impreza in the UK anymore, which really sucks.
