Saw loads of lobbies today dedicated to the SF19, so jumped in for a test and wow, what a fun car. I wish there was a dedicated league...

The Toyota has a decent sound, have not tried the Honda...What do you guys think of the car?

Nah, just bought it for liveries. At least for the first week or so will probably just fool around with it.

Got my hands on both versions and fave them a shot in the GT League event. It drives really well. It always catches me off guard with how early you can actually floor it out of corners. It feels even better than the W08 though I still need to take that car for a spin again now that we can use the DRS.

I made a McLaren MP4/5B livery for the Honda engined one. Number 27 of course. Found a decal that said "McLaren" in the Rothmans typeface and just had to go for it. Not sure what I'll do for the Toyota.

Tons of fun. The default cockpit view is awful though, the pillar from the halo doesn't really bother me but it feels like you are sitting way too close to the steering wheel.

My cockpit view settings: Height 4, Front and Back 5

Just got to try them out today. Absolutely the best drive in the game, hands down. SF19 @ Autopolis is my new favorite combination.

The W08 is a bit maniacal, where the SF19 is slow enough to really concentrate on your line.

It’s too bad you can’t use the overtake on Time Trial though, that’s kinda dumb.

I’ve been spending most of my time in the SF lobby races, they have been really fun except for nearly every lobby runs RSS tires which is getting kind of old. Can’t wait to use it in sport mode, I wish there was a permanent daily for this.

Started testing and tuning on Catalunya time trial with RH tires today. I’ll post my setup when I’m happy with it.

I wish I could toggle the overtake button on and off instead of holding it. I assigned it to the circle button on my wheel.

It’s also not easy to paint.

I toke the Toyota don't know why because the Honda has the same power , seems to be that the sound is different .
Good fast car if you are in the mood to go a bit loco in your head .
A adaptation to the halo was needed and they could have made the front view arm ( or whatever they call it ) a itty bitty bit thinner .

Unless you’re used to it, the overtake system is really tricky to learn how to use appropriately during races but that’s not an issue of the car.

The car is bloody fantastic, however, it grips way too much even on hards. I’ve barely lost control. Really easy to drive on the limit.

It has F1 levels of downforce, lower weight, and ‘only’ 650bhp. It’s difficult to unstick, but you can’t be reckless.

It reminds me of F3 & F2/GP2 cars from other sims. Very quick, but you still have time to focus on your lines. Once you move upto the latest F1 cars it’s a task just to keep the thing on the track.

Best car in the game for me. Hopefully it convinces PD to release more historic F1 cars - particularly early to mid ‘90’s. They would drive very similar to the Super Formula.

I bought both of them because I'm rich, but I've only driven one. Are they both exactly the same but with different engine sounds? Or do they actually perform different as well?

In use, they are amazing. I've always loved the high downforce cars, Gr.2, Gr.1, W08, Red Bull, etc.

So far feels very similar to the W08, just slower and maybe a bit more grippy, which is great.

After spending a day with the Toyota the Honda felt easier to drive. Less understeer and not as twitchy on the exit.

I was under the impression that those are spec cars with just different engine manufacturers? The power/torque curve is exactly the same for both of them.

Haven't driven enough yet myself to form an opinion though.

There’s definitely a notable difference.

Honda has better turn-in but Toyota better high speed handling. Done lots of laps at Autopolis which really shows up the difference. I’m about 0.5s quicker in the Toyota, although that could be personal handling preference.

Dude the SF19 is a spec chassis made by Dallara. The only difference between these 2 cars is the engine. Now, considering the engine alone, only 2 things could effect handling (engine weight and powerband.) However, these 2 stats are exactly the same between the 2 cars. Therefore, there is unequivocally zero handling difference between the two.

Sorry to say your half a second delta between the Honda and Toyota is entirely up to your own inconsistency. I personally would appreciate you not spreading misinformation like this as fact.

I have plenty enough sim experience to know there is a handling difference. When people have put in enough laps on a pure handling track like Autopolis. And start to find the limits on a consistent basis, the differences become ever clearer.

Super Formula do indeed use a spec chassis. While the engines have similar (if not identical) ‘official’ tech specs, they clearly deliver their power quite differently. Furthermore there will be numerous installation & weight distribution differences, however subtle. Whether PD have modelled this based on feedback, or just wanted to add a unique character to each car, is anyone’s guess.

If you don’t take my word for the handling difference, watch Tidgney’s stream from tonight. At the 1hr 14m mark onwards he switches from the Toyota to his favoured Honda.

So you say the Toyota is faster by (half a second!!!) and Tidgney says the Honda is better.... Tidgney of course being a World Tour entrant. Don’t you think he’d perceive the same humongous difference in lap times that you do?

With all of your ‘sim experience’ I’d hope you don’t actually believe that you can drive the Toyota that much faster just because of some silly turn of phrase like ‘personal driving style,’ do you?

As a pad user the Toyota suits my driving style to the point I am consistently quicker with it. Both on a long run and flying lap. There’s nothing unusual in that.

Both cars drive fundamentally differently at the limit and deliver their power in a different manner. Once someone becomes accustomed to the grip & speed. These differences are easily noticeable. Neither should it be a surprise cars with different powertrains handle differently.

These are all minor subtleties, but differences nonetheless. The cars ‘specs’ don’t tell the full story.

Spent the better part of yesterday afternoon messing around in lobbies. I bought the Honda version and it may be one of my new favorite cars in the game. Absolute joy to drive. Even found a BAR Honda F1 livery to go with it. I can see issues with SR in dailies and FIA though. Time will tell.
