The Horch marque, synonymous with ultra-luxurious vehicles, has been brought back by Audi after a hiatus of over 80 years. The all new Horch A8L is an uber-premium, uber-expensive sedan based on the Audi A8, and intended to compete with the Maybach-Mercedes S 680.
Differentiating it from the normal A8L, the Horch features a wheelbase that is eight inches longer, a modified chrome grille, digital matrix LED headlights, 20-inch rims reminiscent of those from the Bentley Flying Spur, special Horch badging throughout the exterior and interior, redesigned OLED taillights, two-tone paint schemes, diamond-quilted leather, extra-soft cushioning, thick carpeting, all-around speaker system, and a host of semi-autonomous driving features. Pricing has not yet been unveiled.
Unfortunately, what's not so luxurious is the powertrain. The only engine unveiled thus far is a hybrid 3.0L V6 making 335hp. This is in contrast to the V8-powered A8 and A8L.
The Horch will go on sale in China and Europe, but will not be offered in the United States, according to an Audi spokesperson. It is also unclear if any other Horch-badged vehicles will be released besides the A8.
