I just tried the 206 Cup in the Peugeot events, but it's horrid at best. Bought a 206 RC especially for that, and also so i could do the french and hot hatch leagues in the Europe events. So i tuned the 206RC to the max with everything you can buy, and it still didn't do any good. At the Peugeot event howeverm every single car just drove away like i was driving the Daimler motor carriage. For some reason, a fully tricked out 206RC had trouble staying close enough to avoid a lap behind on b-spec, and on a-spec, it was nowhere near drivable enough to make it even past #5.

So, am i nuts or is there something more to this event?

This kind of stuff happened to my friend too, when he had a fully tuned cooper-s and there was this computer who was going wayyyyyyy ahead. I think it is because you fully tuned the 206, so maybe down tuning it may help?

I tuned it down to stock (except the wing and weight reduction), and the gap widened. I don't think the cars in those competitions are modified according to what car you bring.

in some of the manufacturer events, AI cars have R-class tyres. that could explain it. and I had no difficulties with WRC car, but with regular 206.. damn near impossible.

I used a fully tuned 206 S16 with wings and the softest tyres possible. That earned me the victory!
I noticed that the cars you´re up against have more power than you can achieve yourself by tuning, but the AI effectively "makes up" for that advantage =)

Not to brag or anything, but I've won it most of the times that I've raced it. Even with the regular 206 for 200 A-Spec points. The only thing, is that they all had the oil change done first of course.

At Paris, I was in third place already before I even started the race, but that's a glitch, and it can happen to you; You just gotta be lucky.

With the rally car is a lot easier of course, but the real key is to assimilate the AI's racing line as best as possible. Try every technique possible like drafting and use the throttle control properly.

Like I said, it didn't take me many attempts to win this one but again, I might have been lucky.

Ciao!

Well, when I said "regular" 206, I meant the 206cc 2001, but yeah, I moded it too. I just pointed out that they all had the oil change before.

Ciao!

When I get home I'll post what I used.. though I don't think I had to full out softest everything or a wing. Been a while though, and it was a pig at times.

Actually, you get 200 a-spec even in a fully tuned 206 S16...

You can also get 200 ASpec points for each race in the WRC 206 car if you minimize the downforce and add ballast.

I ran on the super hard slicks, added 200k of ballast and set the downforce (front and rear) to minimum and ran the series that way. It felt like cheating at first, but when you see what hp levels the AI is using, it justifies it a bit more.

The first time I did the 206 series I was completely blown away by the AI drivers. Granted, I didn't build the car up much.

I went back to the shop, built the snot out of it, complete weight reduction . . . The works. Still was murdered by the AI.

In disgust I sold it off and purchased the WRC 206 and ran through the series.
I wasn't happy that was what I had to do to win, but I did it.

A couple days after reading this thread I happened to come across a white Peugeot 206 S16 while brousing through Used Car Lot 2. I figured that I would pick it up and give the series another try.

After a couple days of tweeking and tuning I came to the realization that it wasn't going to matter how powerful I built the car, but how well the suspension was set. Sure, power was going to be a factor, but if you couldn't hold a corner, you wouldn't stand a chance.

Now since I'm at work, I can't rattle off the suspension settings. I'll post those when I get home. I can give you an idea on how the car was built.

WEIGHT REDUCTION: Zero - Stock weight maintained.
TRANS: Racing (auto set to 7)
CLUTCH: Triple
FLYWHEEL: Semi -or- Full Racing
N/A TUNE: Stage 3
CHIP: Yes
BOTTLE: NO
EXHAUST: Semi -or- Full Racing
BRAKES: Racing
BRAKE CONTROLER: Yes - default settings
SUSPENSION:Racing (I'll post settings later)
WHEELS: Front-Racing Med / Back-Racing Soft.

I believe that was all I had done to the car. The HP was at about 233. I still pulled 200 A-spec points I would finish ahead of the 2nd place car by around 4 seconds at the end of a race.

Ok . . . Sorry it tooks so long.

Heres the suspension set up.

SR - 10.5 / 9.5
RH - 115 / 125
SB - 7 / 6
SR - 9 / 9
CA - 2.5 / 2.2
TO - -2 / 0
ST - 6 / 6

This is the set up that worked for me. Although, its not 100%. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

Just got done trying this and holy cow the AI is no joke in this event. I did a race preview and saw that the AI had around 300hp or so with sports soft tires. I bought a 206 RC and upgraded it to around 260hp, banking that my driving skills would be enough to overcome the deficit, especially since the majority of the tracks in the event are smaller where you don't necessarily need a lot of power to compete. Did the race at Tsukuba, one of my best tracks, and got completely stomped. Ended up something like 21 seconds behind the winner at the end of 5 laps. Resetted the game and slapped on a stage 3 turbo instead and tried again. I kind of figured I was in trouble when I had the same amount of power as them but it was still a 200pt race. The wheelspin coming out of the corners was just atrocious so once again I got stomped. Didn't bother to finish the race and just exited out and went back to the tune shop scratching my head.

After a couple of moments mulling it over, I concluded that the main thing I needed was to limit the amount of wheelspin coming out of the turns so I bought a full customize limited slip. I didn't realize that you could use racing tires until I read this topic. I cranked the acceleration setting up to 60 and retried the event. The wheelspin was still there. In fact, I couldn't notice a difference at all. I noticed that I was also getting killed on the very last corner. I sat and wondered how in the world could I win this thing when there was so much wheelspin on soft tires. Went back to the tune shop and bought every upgrade in sight. Tweaked the suspension settings to get rid of some of the understeer and widened the transmission gear ratios. The power was up to about 340 now. I once again tried my luck but was only able to get up to about 3rd. I used throttle control to the best of my ability, but not being able to step on it out of the corners and all the understeer through the last corner was just too much to overcome. I shuddered as I realized that the only way I'd have a chance at this would be to use the dreaded traction control and stability management. Using that I was able to finally win, though the last corner still gave me a ton of problems. All those upgrades still made it 163 point race. I checked the replay after it was over and noticed that the other cars aren't running turbos and they keep the gas matted in the last corner all the way until they get to the middle of the corner. I restarted the event to try this tactic and immediately flew right off into the sandtrap. It baffles me how they get through that corner so fast on only sports tires.

Here's a tip. Use nitrous!! 👍 I've kicked them all quite severely with the RC and the S16, I haven't even touched the WRC car. :) The S16 is the better car out of those two though, allows more tunability and although it has slightly less power, it gets it to the ground better. And having 300hp + 100hp nitrous is more than enough to dispatch the competition. :)

Being able to keep traction is the biggest key to the car, so throttle control and gearing to minimise the wheelspin is always a plus. Good front downforce and stiffening the rear to keep the weight on the front wheels gets it accelerating faster out of all the corners.

It was a 206RC.And by full tuning I mean all the parts(best NA/Turbo ect.)but I did not fine tune and settings but put NOS on power.Hope that helps

Once I get back in a couple of days Ill post my 206RC setup that can easily win this event on my Tuning Garage thread(Wright Tuning Garage)
