22b

I did a search but didn't find anything. With the 22b is it best to use stage 3 or original turbo? Same thing with suspension? And anybody got a good setup. Thanks.

I just got the 22B and have started tuning it. I went for the original turbo but the race suspension because I don't really need the extra spring rate of the original suspension (way too high to be of any use), and you can't adjust rebound and compression independently.

Just a little heads up: this car is a pig. Lots of understeer out of corners, can't really tune it out with suspension cause it gets twitchy before the apex under braking. You can get some of it, but most of the understeer has to be dialed out with differential and AYC adjustments. Still trying to get a good balance. Good car to have since it can race in a lot of the different series: boxer, turbo, 4wd, supercar.

But the Mitsu Evo is actually an easier car to drive fast (the MR at least), if you're comparing apples to apples.

The guy is not lying... its a total understeer monkey. However, I still love it, have always wanted one, and since the chances of that are slim, I was determined that it was going to work on here. The only way you can get it going at a decent pace is to turn on the ASM and stager the tyres, so that it had SS front and SM rears. Not to improve tyre wear but just to take grip away from the back. Even then I had to put weight in the back.

All listed Front / Rear respectively where applicable

Brakes 8 / 5
Springs 6.5 / 7.6
Ride 98 / 110
Bounce 5 / 7
Bound 10 / 6
Camber 2.5 / 0.8
Toe 0 / 0 ( i really did play with these for ages, 0 0 is best! )
Stabliser 2 / 4

Ballast 15 at +33

LSD
F - init 8 / acc 32 / dec 10
R - init 20 / acc 55 / dec 25
Driver Aids Ov 2 / Un 2 / TCS 2

Use the transmission trick plus a little tuning to get
1st 2.780
2nd 1.940
3rd 1.520
4th 1.220
5th 1.000
6th 0.845
Final 3.700

Surely someone can do better than this? it is supposed to be a fabulous car!

I had a lot of problems with the 22B aswell, so I requested some settings in the "post setting requests here" thread and they work out pretty well. So all Credits for this setup go to RossoCorsaItaly!

Spring Rate F-10.0 R-10.0

Ride Height- As low as possible

Shock Bound F-5 R-5

Rebound F-6 R-6

Keep the rest of the stuff factory in suspension

Brake Balance F-15 R-12

Autoset-31

Most Important thing set the VCD-10% of power going to the front wheels

Then turn all assists off or put TCS to 1 if it's that hard driving the car.

This should make the car more prone to oversteer then understeer.

The reason the 22b is prone to a bit of understeer is the fact that the Subaru Impreza was designed with rallying in mind, it was spawned from the famous Colin McRae winning his first rally in a Legacy. Subaru designed the Impreza soley with rallying in mind and as you all know rallying involves lots of sliding around bends and so the direction of the car is not always the same as say a Skyline or an F1 car.

I haven't bothered trying to dial out the understeer of this car because it shouldn't be driven like, slide it around bends like it should be driven.

Yes the car can and does understeer in real life too, but hey do what I do and give it the rally drivers flick, it looks great coming out of a bend sideways on the highways and byways of merry old England.

Word of Warning: Don't do it in front of officers of the law, they don't hink it cool or flash!

I know this may have been tried, but why not give it a VCD and increase power to the rear. Then if you adjust your suspension to maximize traction in the rear and make it a little softer on the front, it ought to steer a little better. In theory anyway.

I'm going to get an Impreza today or tomorrow hopefully. I'll see what I find works for me when I do and post back here. :)
