In case that some of you don´t know, this weekend will host "the" 24 h race. I won´t be able to go there tomorrow so I thought someone here might want to drop his thoughts about the race....

check it out here: http://adac.24h-rennen.de/

just take a look at that entry list! :scared:

Onboard videos are found HERRE & HERRE

270 starters! Do I read correctly? If I do, damn! That would be one hell of a first corner;)!

If only I could watch this, it would be a very cool race!

yes they do, imagine having to do a flying start with about 220 cars heading for the first corner.... first lap = 50 cars less

42, 43 represent!

The GTR bimmers are kicking unfathomable amount of ass this year. Especially the #42 Müller/Müller/Stuck/Lamy car is 1st with one lap ahead!

this night i saw that one of the civic´s taking part actually had neons mounted - and they were even in 3 different colors...

ROFLMAO, that's sad:lol::scared::lol::scared:

Sad tho' it is, that is one civic that won't get taken out by the faster 911, V8 Astra, DTM Audi's etc at night when the faster cars are coming up to lap it.

I'll tell you one thing I know about Nurburgring. It's not Le Mans. To some, what I just typed is sarcasm and disrespect. If you don't read beyond this, you'll miss out on what else I have to say about the race. Okay, so as I said, it's not Le Mans. No exotic prototypes, no Formula One-handling cars, but what the Nordschliefe (coming soon to a GT4 near you! I only hope GT4 was actually SOON) track and race provide is a lot of cars. There's even a lot of excitement. I know from watching last year's race, that there are a multitude of competitors with all sorts of cars. I guess the Audi R8s of Nurburgring Nords would be the DTM racers I seen. I think this race is more of a Le Mans which feature wonderful touring car-like and low-level race cars. Laps are at least 9 minutes long, over 15+ miles, and of course, 24 hours. Now you tell me, is that a gut check or what? Not even the Super Bowl can compare to this. This race is pretty cool with all those entrants. But, the race is unreal to say the least.

Whomever won the race, congratulations to you and the team. I kind of want to know later who won, so I'll rather get away and await a highlight show, just to stay in a "who won?" frame of mind.

Sorry JohnBM, but i have to disagree there. Just have a look at the vid´s I linked to in my first post and you´ll see some damn good racing!
This years Le Mans was surely an exception with the first two cars within a minute after 24h but the Nordschleife is definitely a REAL RACE.

The Nordschleife 24H may have less tradition but it appeals a lot more to me. The track is challenging, diverse and highly interesting and for some reason touring cars grabbed my love and attention from early childhood on.

Combine this with the fact that I've been subject to strong BMW indoctrincation from my parents and it's easy to understand why this year rocked so much.

Although I would have been happy to see the Manthey Porsche or one of the V8Star win as well. Or the Falken Skyline that came in as fifth.

I love the Nordschleife 24h and wish there was full 24h live coverage.

Damn this race seems amazing, If only they aired it here, does anyone have pics of this race they can post?

Yeah, I wish it was aired here, maybe the first 5 hours then a 5 minute race update every hour, then the last 3 hours:D......ok I'm dreaming, but eh

I only found this thread today, and it's great to see so many guys interested in the 24 hour nordschleife, it's, at least for me much more interesting than Le Mans although this year Le Mans was competitive.
I've been to the Nurburgring and watched the race live and if you can it's one of the best places to be, not just the race itself but all the surroundings. 👍
A lot of good racing can be seen and with all those cars, you never get bored cause everyone's going 110%, for the people who have the chance, watch the 1000Km Nurburgring that will happen later this year, it's almost the same thing as the 24 hour race but less advertised, if anyone goes message me cause I'll probably be there.
If anyone can find the broadcast of the race online, that I know of only the german channel DSF covers the race, please let me know as well

Regards

This event must be like a longer version of the Clipsal 500, except less partying. It goes for 4 days, and there is so many different types of racing, from Formula 3 to V8 supercars.
