Do people think a PS3 will cope with 24 hour races? :dunce:
The PS2 Slim handled it really well. One time I had my PS2 Slim running for about 60 hours straight.

I hope they put save point for people like me that couldn't play many time during the week and don't want to destroy their ps3 leaving it on for ages.

It'll cope, but your electricity bill might not.

I recall keeping my PS2 slim on for over 400 hours doing a 24hr race once.

200 watts for the PS3 isn't it? Combined with most TV's being about 100 Watts (mine is 160 watts). 1/3 kw/h. About 8p per hour at the primary rate. So a 24hr race will probably cost me, if I did it in one go, about £1.80.

Oh and the PS3 will be fine. It's a strong piece of kit.

I never turn mine off.

A PS3 at idle doesn't use alot of power, whilst at high load it would be significantly higher than normal - just like a PC. Add all the GPU/CPU load levels, also heat. Albeit, it should cope.

On a remotely related note, the PS3 slim will use 34% less power than the current PS3.

I can run my PS3 for bout 8 hours straight just watching DVD's and it's alright. but playing a real HD game is kinda unknown for me.

Nope. I worked full time and sometimes just didn't feel like chucking an hour of GT4 in.

Now that's dedication 👍

Longest I've ever left my slim on is 24 hours... it was absolutely fine. Hopefully the PS3 will be fine too... I could only afford one :ill:

Yep, that's my thought exactly.

I've left my PS3 on forever... forgetting about it... and it ran fine. Nothing wrong, fans at normal speed... the only difference was that the room was a LOT warmer. So do it in wintertime.

Not kidding, either.
