My friends in I are going to do the Le mans race A-spec and pretend to be the likes of Allan McNish and Tom Kristenson for 24 hours.

I'm thinking of useing the Audi r8.

but since this is a first 24 hr. a-spec for me. any tips?

What car would you suggest?

what tires should we use for the suggested car?

and red bull or monster?

thanks much.

ps. add in some of your 24 hr. stories. Remember! elaboration leads to a more entertaining story.

I would have taken the pescarolo(either one will do) or a V12 Lm-r for a challenge.

For tires, stick to R1 and R2 tires for the race, but if you need to catch up then use R3(The kind you get standard)tires.

I had a palpitation the last time i drank Monster.

The R8 is my choice of LM racer,on a worn R8 on Le Sarthe II using R3/R2 tires you can do 9 laps easily. You will need a good setup though as the chassis will suffer later in the race, a good setup for the car might help with that. Btw you don't need energy drinks, I am 16hrs into my 5th 24hr race and never needed any. Coffee & nicotine does the job.

I was kind of joking about the energy drinks. Im a little confused on a good race set up for endurance- i am thinking that as little tyre spin as possible is best to save the tires and very little suspension roll as well.
I will also be switching off through out the night with 2 other friends- and no we will not pause it; we're going balls out on this one.

Also it might be important to mention that i have the Logitec steering wheel (not the super duper one but the cheaper on of the two (has sequential gear box and no clutch))
on the Mulsanne strait the wheel shakes like crazy and holding on to it becomes a toll on my arms (also the tires tend to suffer here). So what should i do about that- i think it's due to the ridunkulasly soft suspension.

thanks much.

Oh, other question: regarding my TV, wheel and System: is there any equipment i should by to help them hold up?

Energy drink: Coffee

Car: Toyota Minolta race car won from El Capitan endurance.

Mods: Stage 4 turbo, NOS (Any setting of NOS)

Tires: Racing Super Hard
Other: Before starting the race, go do a practice on Test Course and fiddle with the gearing till you have gearing that you're comfortable with.

The gearing should allow for good low end oomph, well also allowing the car to hit a top end north of 350, maybe even 400+, piles per hour

There you have it, 24 hours endurance race mini-help.

Take the Mazda 787B, if you have it. 3.5 million credits new, or 1,224,999 for the Black Beauty version (if you're around that number of days). With old oil and R1/R2 tires (you'll run out of fuel before they burn up, too), it will give you 200 A-Spec points against the right lineup. This is easily winnable; I won by several laps, and I'm not that amazing of a driver.

As for equipment, don't worry about any of it. I've done all three 24-hour races and had to leave my PS2 on for nearly a month straight on one of them. Your TV and wheel will hold up fine, also. If the wheel shaking gets too crazy, you can always go into the option menu (off the main menu) and turn the force feedback down.

= Massive yawnfest 👎

Total overkill which relies on not a single shred of driver skill and will result in victory by 10s of laps over your nearest competitor (and about 1 A-spec point!)

People here are well aware that you can strap on a Stage 4 turbo, load up with NOS and massacre the competition, however, it's old (Seriously old.) news.

People want a challenge, something to make a 24hr race interesting enough that it's not just you driving around by yourself and lapping people once in a while.

Try these stories, and more in the race reports forum too, for size:

200 A-spec attempt Sarthe 24hr I (Stock, used Toyota GT-One Race Car '99) Failure!

200 A-spec attempt Sarthe 24hr I (Stock, used Toyota GT-One Race Car '99) Success!

200 A-spec Sarthe 24hr II (Stock, used Nissan R390 GT1 Race Car '98) *Now with Pics!*

As far as equipment goes, check out our Steering Wheels & Cockpits forum, you'll find all sorts of setups there, from cheap DIY offerings to custom-built setups costing thousands. It all depends what you want to spend and how much space you've got.

Have a look in here too, it shows RIGGRacing cockpits that I use, a Playseat and a homemade cockpit too:

Thanks Small Horses. 50% or so ago i would have boosted the car and massacred the others so i could get some easy money. But this is more special to me as im doing it with a few friends all in b spec in one go. My driving skills i'd say are average but add fatigue to the mix and their bellow average so yes this will be intresting. I thought about using the F1 car but opted out just because it wouldn't be realistic or possible in real life. BTW i like the rig. Right know im using a desk i baught from school.

But what car would you suggest?

Oh and what tyres?
