-how many hours into the race does sunset start?
-how many hours into the race does sunrise start?

just a small thing i would like see happening before i go and do something else while its grinding :)

I should have made notes. Sunset was only a few hours into the race and sunrise was about half way through, I think. Hope someone can help you with some more exact timings.

I'm 4 hours into the 24 hours of Le Mans right now. It's getting darker now.

At 3h 38mins the lights came on on my car.

If I remember, the sun starts to set after about 4 hours and it rises between 13 and 14 hours into the race.

The real Le Mans 24H race normally starts at 4pm, so I guess the race would start at the same time in GT5.

Le Mans is starting at 3pm in reality and I've tried to keep up with the time during my recent Le Mans 24 A-Spec run just a week ago. It seems that the game is starting it at 3pm as well.

According to this, it was getting darker around "7pm" and the "night" started around "9:30pm". The sun slowly came up again around "6:30am". Driving through the night in Le Mans, with all the graphical awesomeness and effects in GT5, was the most awesome experience EVER in a Gran Turismo game, I'm completely in love with this.

Sunset begins quite early in the game, sunrise is a bit late, considering that this race takes place at the 2nd weekend in June. Did my B-spec 24hrs last weekend, and I have to agree with Scuzzilla, the scenery at night is absolutely breathtaking

Cheer for letting me know I'll be starting the race today. Looking forward to it, have done the change weather time trial so see what driving at night is like, it looks really good!

If you start the race on 3PM your local time. It will be your real time.
I already try on B-spec Le Mans 24hr. The night is also fascinated with the fire work and the lighting.

It actually starts at 4 in the game, as per the clock in the 370z

Strange, mine (premium car) came on at 4h 27m, and the A.I.'s (standard) came on before 4h. EDIT: I suppose different weather would account for different times. It wasn't cloudy, but not lear, either. kind of smoggy.

The race starts at 4pm in game.

It starts at 3PM in real life.

The start time's actually changed around the last few years. From Wikipedia:

Traditionally, the race starts at 16:00 on the Saturday, although in 1968 the race started at 14:00 due to the lateness of the race on the calendar. In both 1984 and 2007, the start time was moved ahead to 15:00 due to the conflicting French General Election. In 2006, the ACO scheduled a 17:00 start time on Saturday, 17 June in order to maximize television coverage in between the FIFA World Cup games. In 2009 the race took place over 13–14 June and started at 15:00 local time (13:00 GMT), and in 2010 the start is also scheduled for 15:00 local time on 12 June.
