Protozua, is this thread for base GTi or GTi-16 ?

Difference is in the engine. Base GTi produces 95 kW (128 hp) while GTi-16 confirms 116 kW (158 hp). You should change your headline once you decide which one is it.

This car was considered to be cheaper copy of popular 205 GTi. Since we already have several 205 models including road T16, I would be happy to see GTi-16 in next Gran Turismo. Voted.

Here are the major differences between the top GTi-1 and 205 GTi 1.9:

According to Carfolio , tyres and ground clearance are mostly identical on both 205 and 309 GTi, regardless of the version. However, 50 mm longer wheelbase on 309 GTi should be good enough to provide some different handling abilities. In addition, GTi-16 got slightly better tyres (195/55 R 15 over usual 185/55 R 15 or 185/60 HR 14 on 205 GTi), so I'm sure it should handle differently in relation to 205 GTi 1.9 edition.

Here are the major differences between the top GTi-1 and 205 GTi 1.9:

Legend: 309 GTi-16 = 205 GTi

Weight: 975 kg = 875 kg
Wheelbase: 2470 mm = 2420 mm
0-60mph: 7,7 sec = 7,8 sec
The pictures are of a GTi-16 so I guess it's what he want :P

I hope that is true as GTi-16 is better in any possible way. We should all refer to my previous post (#6) as I have updated it with some interesting informations. :)

Well, that changes everything I knew about Peugeot's car names. The 309 is older than the 308! :odd:
Indeed - at the time the 309 came out in 1985, the company's offerings were the 104 city car, 205 supermini, 305 family car and the 604 executive car - with the 504 large family car having just been discontinued. The 309 was supposed to be the Talbot Horizon, but Peugeot killed off the Talbot brand entirely in 1984, and brought the car in with a 3 prefix to denote a small family car, but didn't want to call it the 305 or 306 as that would suggest the existing 305 was being replaced - and it wasn't (at least at that time) - so it gave it the out-of-sequence 309 name.

Eventually the 309 did 'replace' the 305, in the sense that the 305 was discontinued in 1988 but the 309 remained. During the 309's life, the 604 became the 605, the 104 became the 106, the 505 was cancelled and replaced by the 405 and eventually, when the 309 was itself replaced, everything became an -06 (except, by irony, the 6 itself), then an -07 and, today, the -08.

The brand's current naming strategy is:
First digit:
1 - City
2 - Supermini
3 - Small Family
4 - Large Family
5 - Executive

Second digit:
0 - Car
00 - SUV/MPV/Crossover

Last digit:
1 - Emerging markets
8 - World markets

So we may never see another xx9 - and there was never another one before it either, so it's totally unique!

Thanks for the info, @Famine!
But why do you think we won't ever see xx9 models? Won't they release the 209/409/2009 after the current models?

In the news post, the small photo is a 309 GTI 130HP... the other big is a 309 GTI 16V 160HP, the same here.
The exterior differences between, is the stop lights, the aileron, and next door, the small orange side-light.
Here the red one have a beautiful Speedline wheels that i'd love to have too,, and is also a MK1 beacause the aileron is diferente than tjhe original 16V

The first of the xx8 cars was the 308, and that has already been replaced... by a new 308. The 3008 was also replaced with a new 3008 last year.

That's funny. The numbers went up and now they're gonna stop for good
