Hi guys I'm new here, I used to play GT and recently got a chance to play a racing game on PS4, I am wondering why I got beaten by world tops by 2:30s, and I think it is impossible to make that happen to even get close to their results.....I mean 2:30s is a huge difference, either I'm doing something wrong in the game or I need way more time to practice, I'm so lost now.... Any comment? Is there a save data mod out there or some car setup in the game???

It really just takes a lot of practice to get used to the different arcade handling characteristics of the cars as this is certainly not a sim like GT. Some of the cars like the Hot Hatches will be easier to handle than others like the Hypercars. There's not tuning available so it's ultimately down to your own skill.

Even on the DS4, on some circuits in certain cars, I've gotten close to the top times and even gone fastest for a while.

You brake one mile too early. Dive bombing is the name of the game. DC's grip level is out of this world.

I was actually wondering the same thing couple of weeks ago. Is a good driving wheel one step closer for getting better lap times? Does this game benefit using driving wheel? I play with pad (yeah, a complete amateurish Sunday driver) and I am seriously considering buying decent driving wheel...

Thanks guys for the suggestion, yes I used to play GT with G27, so I don't have a wheel to play on PS4 now, but I still can't believe the difference would have such a huge gap! I just bought the game yesterday and I started to examine the worlds top records today, I know I am driving safely, very conservative because I get used to GT, but would that means 2:00+ diff, for example in a track of Scotland....3 laps, I practice for 3 times so total I hot 9 laps practice, right? My total time is 5:10 while the worlds top record is 2:10????? Using the same car????? 3mins difference? Really???

Any chance to see their Replays?

I don't think a decent wheel would suddenly make a drastic improvement on lap times....

That's true! It is funny when you think that you've just driven your ultimate best lap and there's absolutely no way to do better...then you keep driving the same track over and over (maybe an hour or so) and suddenly you get for example two seconds better lap time. That is one reason I simply enjoy Driveclub's time trials. However it's a very long way to the top...but competing against own time can be very satisfying indeed. When I still had PS3 I played F1 game mainly the same way - not the actual races, but tried to work on with my lap records.

I'm doing fine with a DualShock... Learn how to control the car better, how to brake harder and accelerate earlier.

The more you practise the better you'll get!

Well....I'm definitely not a DS3 guy on GT so I admitted I do have some handicap on using a DS4 on DC, but it is still too scary to see those guys using a same car faster than me by 3 mins 3 laps, that's mean they are faster than me 60s sec per lap! Where has my car gone during race, did I go to space and back to earth or did I run into 4 dimensional space?? LOL LOL LOL

Unfortunately no replays, yet.
As we all know, owning a wheel doesn't make you automatically faster. It may actually take a while to reach your pad times.
Wait. I don't follow now. Mr. LotusTeam, are you sure you are not mixing 1 lap vs. your multiple laps? What is your car/track combo?

Thanks for the heads up Gordon but I think I'm looking the ranking correctly.... There is a long long way for me to practice on Arcade racing game! Hahahaha!

2 mins does seem like a big gap for someone who plays sims..Have ago on Black Hills race track Scotland (02) in the ferrari 430 or 458 (easy to handle) -light rain-great for the powerslides round the apex's and an easy track to learn many laps on. I get a 1.12/1.13 comfortably on the first hotlap. This is in light rain and dry can be a second or two quicker. I am second now someone got a 1.10!..but I bet you can get a 1.12 easy.👍 Otherwise as the others have said..All cars are the same for everyone and just practice with point to point tracks being harder and a matter of skill and learning every corner of the track. Another tip is to leave the crowd on in the event settings and the green/yellow/red wind corner flags stay on and they mean -green(fast corner) yellow(off brake/rev)-Red (brake!) etc rather than a race line while you learn all the 50 tracks!..Good luck ;)

Thanks for the tips mate! so Im wondering if u can do a video on my example, I would love to learn....if worlds top is 2:10s for 3laps, then each lap would be 43secs in average, and according to my photo, this dude use Audi RS5 coupe, remember this record was done in a 11 cars event.... 43secs per lap?????? Really????? I can't even do it within 1 minute per lap.....what a world...!

What lap are those times on with the RS5 It is not in english? ;)..I might have a go if I get a min and see what time I can get on 3 Laps to but I have a busy weekend so post up what times you are getting and I am sure some people will try to see what they get:
Ideally need: Track Country/ name of track- (or if reversed), time of day (can help with times due to light/sun etc) and weather can make a big difference-the 3 leader board times are usually dry, wet or dynamic lap.

There are glitched times on some of the race event leaderboards, some of the earlier time trial events have glitched times on them too but most of them are unaffected. Unless you were playing blindfolded this is most likely the reason for the 2 minute gap.

Arrrr sorry mate I'm a Chinese in Hong Kong so I have to find out what is the English name of the track later! But if you could do me a fav pls do a video on the Scotland event , which is right after the "Rookie Cup", the weather and road conditions are decided by AI, is it correct? The name of the event is "Scotland Open"

So here is the information

Go to Driveclub Tour, see photo, the event is right after the Rookie Trophy, Scotland 3 laps, I have a rough run using DS4, now sitting 40,000th (5:09 using Audi RS5 coupe) ranking! Obviously I can do better if I go on practice.....but....2:10? Really?

So could anyone do a video on this one, I would really love to learn, the worlds top now is 2'10, that means average lap time is 43secs, is that really possible??

Any chance to see their Replays?

friend Evolutionstudios on psn and do their challenges, most of the really fast folks (kie25 etc.) do them and in that case you'll definitely see their ghosts live while you are trying to beat their times (hah, good luck)

this said for some general replays just look at kie's channel since he has quite a few world records

https://www.youtube.com/user/thekie25/videos

Thanks for the advice dude, and yes I will definitely friend those guys in DC but can anyone verify the total lap time of "Scotland Open" event is really 2:10? Using Audi RS5 coupe?? Consider you are not the top50 of the world, so can you at least do it within 3 min? Say averagely just within 1 min per lap????

now I practice my 10 times of this event, that makes it 30 laps practice already right? I started to see my total time limit (DS4 user) is around within 4 mins, but there is no way I can beat 2:10?????

And it is weird when I have just 6 secs improvement (5:09 --> 5:03) my ranking jumped from 40,000 to now 4,256th.....what's happeing with this game???

Got my hands on another trial again, below is my figures...

Driveclub tour - "Scotland Open" 3 laps race
My Total no. practice = 33 laps
Car used: Audi RS5 coupe Coupe
Best total time: 5:01.077
World Ranking 2,320th

What's wrong with that guy did it 2:10 ?????
Anyone can tell me why ??????
Anyone could share a video to teach me how to do this????

I suggest you start trying doing just time trials on the track (instead of a 3-lap race) then you will see the ghost of somebody just a bit faster than you every lap and you can see exactly where you are gaining/losing time, not sure if you see ghosts for 3-lap races, I 99% do only time trials personally

Updated

World Ranking 1,666th

Ok thanks for the reminder i can actually do that....You know what? After practice 6 laps on my solo, pure Time trial in this track "Kinloch Scotland Reverse", I got world top 28th rank, best time was 1'36.213, using Audi RS 5 coupe.....I know I can still run about 2 secs faster if I keep on practicing, say 1:34~1:35

So I am pretty sure something is going wrong with the "Scotland Open" event with below either one explanation....with decendihg possibility....

(1) DC server error. Miscalculated

(2) 2:10 world record on 3 laps does not represent Audi RS 5 Coupe, some super car was used, the world top TT hot lap is only 1:32 now, so apparently it was a MOD data, it could have made around 4:30 at best for total 3 laps....no way there is a guy can do it 2:10, DC got to look at this problem....

(3) I need hell practice or I will have to go back to GT for more training and basic knowledge of racing line and brake point....

Now could anyone verify above assumptions for me....I'm so lost.....

are you looking at the overall record for the track or for the record for the track for the Audi RS5 coupe? there is no way the audi could have the WR, these days it'd be for sure the one:1 to have it on most tracks

Can u see the picture? How do you explain it? 2:10? Really? Let me say that again, 2:10 is a world record in the "Scotland Open" event, try it yourself, it is the event right after Rookie Trophy....according to the picture, the world 1st guy used a Audi RS 5 Coupe.....

So any comment???

And don't mind me if I repeat myself again, I did 1:36.213 on this track in TT mode, and rank 28th for "Audi RS 5 Coupe" , NOT the overall rank....

2:10 is a world record a guy did on Audi RS 5 coupe in 3 laps on Scotland Open race event, of which I could only do it around 4:50 I guess..... that's totally absurd.....

And 1 more thing, my single time trial weather and road condition is exactly the same as in the race event.....
