What is your opinion on this? The game runs at 60 FPS on one player, so what could that mean for two, and how will it look? I personally think that this is a cool idea since Driveclub nor pCars has anything like it, but if it's like GT6 the FPS goes in half and graphics are nuked. Let's discuss this.

Spilt screen is always a good option to have. I'm actually kind of surprised that PD included it when all these other games have dropped it (Halo 5, Need For Speed games, etc). Obviously like the poster above me said, graphical compromises are made but it is worth it. Hopefully every GT will include spilt screen.

I like it. Most racing games even in the PS3 generation did not have split screen anymore. GT have always consistently maintained this feature. Online racing is fun and all, but sometimes it's just fun trading blows with an actual person sitting on the couch beside you. The graphics are worsened, there's no cockpit view, and the physics are simplified, but it's all for fun so it doesn't matter 👍

I wish they keep it. There are less and less local multiplayer games and GT was one of the very few racing games with such mode. I don't have anyone to play with though, back in the day I would play GT4 with my brother in law, good times.

Seconded. 2P battles do not suffer from lag or connection issues, plus, they can be just as contagious. I remember Toca Race Driver 2 having great 2P battle system: 2 drivers + 6 AI opponents. Difficulty was alterable too.

I don't understand the poll. Why wouldn't it be a good option?
Because it might take away other features.

Personally, I voted for option number two. Let's be honest, unless you have a huge TV or an awesome setup, it really stinks to use it. I would honestly rather take turns in races.

So, when do I like it? When I have a couple cars that do wheelies and I can ramp them off eachother and do really silly stuff.

...
That applies almost equally to any feature.

If a game comes with split-screen play (and a host of other features), but no dynamic weather, say, you can't single out the split screen mode for that one feature's absence.

The code already exists and will largely just copy over, with someone somewhere having to go through some of the performance options at the alpha stage to create a unique configuration of the already existing sub-systems, and store the numbers associated with that configuration somewhere in the game files.

My son played GT5 and GT6 with me. So yeah, I would want it in GTS so that we can play together. Until he's good enough at it, we both enjoy playing together. I just wish it was as feature rich as the single player mode. GT6 is terrible.

i-link anyone (GT3)

As a matter fact that what as a great feature for the year it was released in. We always had family gatherings back in 2005-2006 and everyone brought their PS2, GT3, and some cables. Every other week we had several matches, even like championship races. So much fun.

So yes, GT Sport needs LAN or something similar.

If Game Developers back then included splitscreen feature where common TVs are only 13 inches in size then why not now where common TVs are bigger? If the gameplay allows for coop play, every developer should include splitscreen feature.

It's disappointing to see split-screen being dropped from games these days, I think we can all agree on that. The situation for Halo 5 was basically that they couldn't keep it locked at 60 FPS meaning the Xbox One isn't powerful enough. I don't know what the deal is for other games but obviously the developers are relying on online multiplayer.

GT Sport seems like it will not be a full blown GT game, but instead a special, e-sports focused spin-off while we wait for GT7. That's why I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they leave 2P split-screen out, although it would certainly be better if they didn't.

I've had problems with split screen racing for years. Yeah i'd want it but we'll have to somehow find a way to keep the resolution and framerate the same lol, actually haven't done any sort of split screen since FM4

Unless you want split screen to be 30FPS and keep the game looking the same, or keep it at 60 and everything looks like carpet

Split second had split screen, and it even had to option for both vertical and horizontal splits, that never happens. :embarrassed:

I wish arcade mode had the same options as sports car gt. That game is fantastic to open, play for 15 minutes and then close it again. Every other game it seems like you have to play it for 2 hours to be worth the trouble of starting it.

I personally favoured Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec's split screen because the graphics remained the same and the UI (tachometer, map, and timers) was simplified to almost nothing. It was great.

Off topic, but Gran Turismo's fun simplicity needs to be brought back from Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec.
