300 -

I will start by saying trying to watch this film wasn't the happiest experience of my life. First it ran late starting, then there was no sound on the Adverts. Then the screen went blank for like 10 mins after the trailers. Then the film got going with no sound. Then once it had got going the sound went and we got the cinema adverts playing over the top of the film & no sound again. It took nearly 40 mins in total before we actually started watching the film properly.

Once it got going, it wasn't entirely worth it! Lol. For 30 minutes its quite boring, the only thing that stood out (literally) was Lena Hardy's boobs. And I found myself just waiting for more of them, there really wasn't anything else going on! But eventually it got going. And boy did it get going. The action is good, until it starts doing this weird slow-mo thing and then it becomes absolutely brilliant.

But once again it becomes quite boring in between battles/fights. You can easily get distracted by the visuals as it's a very good looking film, even if some of it is obviously green screen, when some scenes aren't, it's strange. But then we end up in another action scene & it all goes great again.

There has been a lot of press about this being the "bloodiest" film ever. Is it bollocks! Yes it's bloody, and has some lobbing off of limbs, but it's all so cartoony & obviously not real that it's not really that violent. Like when there are huge blood splatters it just looks fake (I'm not sure if that was intentional or not). Also there never seemed to be any blood on there swords or on the ground.

Overall it's visually excellent and the battle/action scenes are brilliant, but not very good at all in between those scenes. Oh yes, there is also the odd bit of quite black humour in there too.

Action/visuals - 9/10

Other bits - 4/10

I had high hopes for this and they werent entirely met (very little character development I was looking for an epic story!) but it was still a great action flick well worth my money. What happened to "jagged blades for arms only used for one scene" anyways?! I wanted to see Leonidus decimate him as well :P

the only real gripe i have with it is the whole movie is that it was obviously was fillmed on a stage in a room. the scenery is all very unrealistic. not to say it wasnt good looking, because it was. it was just very fake.
