Inspired by the older "350Z Concept LM vs. Motul Pitwork Z" poll thread in the main forum, I have decided to do a comparison of the two cars. There will be a total of 5 tests, all of which will be done in A-Spec. Both cars are bone stock without an oil change and ran on Racing: Medium tires.

In the garage:

350Z Concept LM
power: 507 hp
weight: 1120 kg
p/w ratio: 2.208

Motul Pitwork Z
power: 485 hp
weight: 1080 kg
p/w ratio: 2.227

The tests
1. 400m run
2. 1 lap - High Speed Ring
3. 1 lap - Autumn Ring
4. 1 lap - Circuit de la Sarthe I
5. 1 lap - Nurburgring Nordschleiffe

👍=win 👎=loss

Results:

Test 1: 400m run

:tdown:350Z Concept LM: 0'10.825
:tup:Motul Pitwork Z: 0'10.800

This test surprised me. I thought the 350Z LM would win since it has more
power and a higher top speed. But the Motul Pitwork edged the 350Z LM in this test.

Test 2: 1 lap - High Speed Ring

:tdown:350Z Concept LM: 1'04.364
:tup:Motul Pitwork Z: 1'03.597

Another test I expected the 350Z LM to win before testing. But as soon as testing began, I knew that the Motul Pitwork would take this test with the better amount of downforce. So downforce gave this test to the Motul Pitwork Z.

Test 3: 1 lap - Autumn Ring

:tdown:350Z Concept LM: 1'13.385
:tup:Motul Pitwork Z: 1'10.048

Downforce propelled the Motul Pitwork Z to yet another win in the testing. The 350Z Concept LM, due to its lack of downforce, was a bear on the short, technical Autumn Ring.

Test 4: 1 lap - Circuit de la Sarthe I

:tup:350Z Concept LM: 3'43.589
:tdown:Motul Pitwork Z: 3'45.092

The only event that the 350Z Concept LM won in the test. Downforce hurt the Motul Pitwork Z down the hunduries, allowing the 350Z LM to take its only victory in the testing.

Test 5: 1 lap - Nurburgring Nordschleiffe

:tdown:350Z Concept LM: 6'24.131
:tup:Motul Pitwork Z: 6'20.682

Not a big surprise that Motul Pitwork Z won this test. However, the 350Z Concept LM was closer behind than I thought, despite its lack of downforce. But, once again, the Motul Pitwork Z's superior downforce propelled it to victory.

Conclusion:
Although the 350Z Concept LM has a higher top speed and a better power to weight ratio, the Motul Pitwork Z's superior aerodynamics make the Motul Pitwork Z the better of the two 350Z race cars.

This is quite interesting, good job 👍

To be honest I expected you to find those answers that you found, but it's still nice to see just how different each car was.

I recommend:
  • Using A-Spec AND B-spec for this test as B-spec mode may provide different results.
  • Getting an oil change, the LM edition may benefit more from this.
  • Using different compound tires. Who knows? Maybe the LM is better on R1 tires than the JGTC version.

All in all though, good report. 👍

In addition to what luftrofl said, I'd also recommend doing more than one lap per track in the future, to give yourself more data to work with, especially since you chose to A-Spec it. When I compare cars for myself, I too use A-Spec, but I run at least 3 laps on a track, usually five, to make sure my data is more consistant and more accurate (it also reduces impact of driver error to the data)
Other than that, it's a good report 👍

Do you have the same game? My non-tuned 350z LM concept has over 620hp and on my opinion is faster than Motul Pitwork. I use PAL version.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll definitely take your suggestions into consideration for my next test, whenever I get around to it. As for your question, marekd, I'm an NTSC user, so I do not have the same game. Oh, and are you sure you're not thinking of the Nissan GT-R Concept LM? Because I know that has over 600 hp non-tuned.
