Well, yes. That's exactly what they did when they had the stand alone demo. It was during Prologue, but before GT5 launch.

GT Academy was released in December 2009 and ran into January 2010. GT5 was released in late 2010, following a last minute release delay (original date was in October).

GT Academy with GT Sport beta physics would be a very sad thing. Lets hope thst is not what it turns out to be.
