This Week's Theme

Welcome to the inaugural Project CARS 2 Photo Mode Competition! The PMCs have been around GTPlanet for over a decade, but here in 2017, we're expanding their reach. Project CARS 2 has an improved photo mode compared to the original, and as it was the first of the "sim racing Big Three" to launch this season, we're kicking things off with it. Normally, you'd find a winner's quote below, but...

"We can't have a winner in the first week. So, I'm here to tell you this week's theme is... everything. And nothing. Er, there is no theme. Snap whichever car(s) on whichever track, in whichever conditions, you want! There's a lot of options in PCARS2 for just that."

CARS: Any
LOCATIONS: Any
UNIQUE RESTRICTIONS: See above

Competition Rules

Please, ensure you read and understand all requirements for this competition. Failure to follow the rules may result in disqualification. If you have questions, start a convo with me.
  • The only way you can take part is to be a member of the GTPlanet forums. If you haven't created your account yet, click here.
  • It is recommended you host your image on Flickr, or right here on GTPlanet (hit that Upload a File button).
  • Please use a clickable-preview to full-size, not a separate text link for it;
it makes poll creation much easier!
  • In order to try to keep some semblance of parity between PC and console users, we ask no custom liveries and/or mod cars are used.
  • No post-game editing, besides proportional resizing and rotating, is allowed.
  • One entry per user. It must be your own work, and never previously used in a comp.
  • Do not ask other users to choose your entry.
  • Absolutely no entries which utilize edited/hacked file saves.
  • Mark your FINAL ENTRY clearly, with red text.
Unsure how to? Copy and paste the following: FINAL ENTRY
  • You may change your entry once. Do it clearly; edit out your previous entry, and
either post the new one in a new reply, or in place of the original.
  • When submitting, use either a thumbnail or a preview image, linked to the full-sizer.
  • Preview images can not exceed 640 pixels in either direction.
  • A preview image must be representative of the full-size image. Do not add effects to it.
  • Do not post "Honourable Mentions" or outtakes - just your Final Entry, that's all.
  • Winner gets to choose the following week's theme.
  • Winners cannot enter in their own theme!
  • The Host may ask for the original image and it must be submitted if so.
It's recommended to save the original image (preferably in-game) until week's ends.

No post game edits, that includes the in game filters or is that free reign? because I love the filters in this game :)

Anything within the game is safe. Basically, we don't want people fiddling with Photoshop, Lightroom, or Instagram. :P

How do I insert a 1080p image? When I upload my PS4 pictures to the Photomode thread, they are resized to 800x450.

I sent a PM to SlipZtrEm as I can't figure out how to make a smaller sized photo
link to a larger one. :embarrassed:

My bad, I assumed most people would use the Flickr approach — that's largely been the case for the GT comps all these years.

If you're utilizing GTP's own Media section, here's a step-by-step to submitting entries, using this example:
  • You'll need to upload two images: the full-size image, and a resized one (640px max h/w).
  • While viewing the full-size image, you'll want to copy this code:
    Screen Shot 2017-10-31 at 2.20.17 PM.png

  • Type [U R L= *insert that copied link*] [/U R L] (no spaces).
  • Now head to the smaller image, and copy this code:
    Screen Shot 2017-10-31 at 2.23.37 PM.png

  • Insert that full code between the URL tags you created two steps ago. The IMG tags should be nested within the URL ones.
  • Post this combined code — along with your "FINAL ENTRY" text, of course — in this thread. The result should be this (note that clicking the preview image results in the full-sizer):
Hope that helps everyone!

It did. Excellent, thanks for your help. I'll be sure to save this tutorial.

I used Imageshack for a few years back in the day, switched to Photobucket and used that for a few years,
but ever since @Jordan introduced the GTP media section two and half years ago that's what I've been using.

I think it works great and it's very clean, easy and user friendly. Plus you can't really beat 5,000px x 5,000px and 15 MB
as the size limit when it's all free for us members. And it keeps members here at GTP when they click on the photos, instead
of being redirected to other sites.

This seems appropriate to post on Halloween. Night falling at Brands Hatch.

FINAL ENTRY

Can't get the text red. As you can see, even after SlipZtrEam's instructions below, it just shows the html. Not sure if it's my browser or I'm totally spacing something about html.

Yes, my brain had turned to mush this evening. Thanks, Chikane & Torque99.

Awesome. I'll make sure to link it in all future comps.

On a similar note, for anybody looking to get the red text:
[c o l o r =red]FINAL ENTRY[/c o l o r]

(and then remove the spaces)

Oh yeah, the Media section is great for that. 👍

@Donnced @Silvio @Leggacy - your entries are currently ineligible, please see the submission tutorial up-thread. 👍

This thread is such a cool idea, but i'm affraid it is a little bit to complicated to post the image in the right way and size for some people... so we might have more competitors if this would have been a bit easier. Also, i can't get rid of that "/URL" in my post... sorry about that.
