Hi guys! I was just wondering which is the better drifting car, 370z or RX-7?

Thanks, rjlee

The rx7 may be quick put I dont want to be quick. 350z every time. it pulls so well that I can drift in 6th at 3k rpm.

I learned In a 300hp rx7(FD), and I've upped the power to 450, but I just like the car's behavior when it slides. And yeah, the 350 has some wicked low-end torque.

There is no "better". Only "I like better".

Both cars are good bases for drifting. (FR with nice weight distribution) But it's really up to the tune if you will like it..

Example: I learned do drift in GT5 using a stock premium RX-7. After that i could never really enjoy drifting an RX-7, I really didnt like them because i could not get the setup to work the way i need it to.. But yesterday i tried someone elses tune and thought it was great again!

So if a car, or a tune, is good for drifting is only decided by the way YOU drift, and in which amount is compliments that way of drifting..

Some people like to be really gentle on the throttle, almost never going full throttle. Me, i like to punch it and keep the throttle down to the floor and make corrections by steering.. It helps me keep steady angle. But thats my preference..

The one that you think looks the coolest.

Now that would be a hard one! The 370z lookes fat and fast, but the RX7 has that classic look that we all associate with drifting i guess..
My choice would be the 370 just because its more modern, or the RX7 cause its so timeless in design..

I dont know!

Yay! wankel!. I love those engines its a shame mazda is gonna kill off the rx8 soon with no rx9 to replace it yet.:indiff:

Try em both and you see which one is better.

I think this is the best answer.

trial and error are your friends. meet them. embrace them. they're nice most of the time but you would never know unless you introduce yourself.

good luck.

This one is easy. The RX-7 Bathurst R (FD) '01 is too overpowered, almost a cheaty car. Otherwise the 370z is not a great drifting car, comparing with several other cars at the same category.

I have both, but i dont use them, due these reason.

i prefer the Z over the RX-7, the vacuum cleaner/blender racing exhaust note on the FD gets old very fast, sounds like a high pitched B series or something

Hello there, rjlee
First of all Welcome to :gtplanet::gtpflag:
Now back to topic :)
From my expirience, the 370Z (z34?) is more controlable, and a bit more steady, although it's harder to maintain a nice long drift, but is capable of pulling a very sided drift. I would say for short, cornery tracks, go with the FULLY tuned 370z. The RX7 is quite steady aswell, but a little, just a little less predictable. It's not capable of the same angles as the 370, but can pull of a nice, long, smokey drift.
It really depends on you. Beginners usually take a 370z. What are you using? Controller, or a Wheel? If so, wich wheel?

At some GT5 e-drifting competitions the RX-7 Bathurst got banned, thats enough info.

Maybe the 370z have a better control, witch is normal for cars with short axis distances (FT-86, Solstice, Tamora...), but if the subject is drifting at higher speeds, the Z34 gets pwned by the Bathurst, hands down.

The 370z is a Class B, sometimes able to keep up with Class A with some dificult. The FD Bathurst is a Class A witch can tandem the Class S cars with some ease.

From the premium Mazda car company, there are 2 RX-7 3rd generation (FD): The Spirit (small wing) and the Bathurst (Large Wings). The first is my favorite, and an equal match to the 370z, but the second is a beast, and for that reason i dont like it.
