Yes i can tell its the true successor to the shelby cobra cause its just as ugly as the cobra is.

I worked for Venture in the early 2000's and got to see a couple of these. I even got a rid in a non-supercharged model. Some of the ones I saw were very early models that had some pretty horrible fit and finish, the later ones were ok. The thing I remember the most was the pedal offset from the bell housing was ridiculous. Very strange to have the accelerator almost to the left of the steering wheel. I still have not been in a car that has had a pedal offset as bad as the Series 1.
I even got to see the models for the Series 2. IIRC there was some big situation between Shelby and Ford when they debuted the concept for the Ford Cobra in the early 2000's.
I got to see a bunch of pretty cool prototype GM cars during that time. There some sort of concept/mule test Hummer H2 that was basically two GM truck chassis cut in half and mated together to have 4 wheel independent suspension. Can't remember many details any more, I worked there when I was 16-18. Then after Venture went bankrupt, I stayed with them as they became Cadence Innovation which also went bankrupt.

The Shelby Cobra Series One wasn't just a Wednesday Want for me. It was an Everyday Want when PS3s had dedicated servers. The car is just beautiful. One of the most attractive cars to come out of the US IMMHO. It hurt my heartbone to read such horrid reviews in other journals back in the day. It was reminisent of another favorite, this time though, from across the pond... Jaguar's XJR-15, about a decade earlier. At least PD and Kaz spared us from having to worry about the reliability (Shelby) and stability (Jaguar) woes these cars were most noted for during their respective production periods.
A wonderful pick for this Wednesday. Unless I missed it, I'll copy and paste this post when the Planet picks TWR's road version of their XJR-9.

I think I had this car in both Gran Turismos 2 and 4. As much as I love the AC/Shelby Cobra, the Series 1 is a more modern Cobra, meaning you can push this car without having it snap on you like with the classic Cobra. I couldn't help but be awed by this car's design when I did a quick Google Images search on the Shelby Series 1. I think what I like most about its design is that it has an aggressive front and side profile. This car means business while not being overly flamboyant. When I saw a YouTube video on it, it also has a pretty nice engine note.
Since the Shelby Series 1 is rare, it just adds to the mystique and appeal of this automobile. Maybe not one of my all-time favorite '90s cars, but it is definitely a great car.

If this had come out in ~1995 and it was competing with the winding down C4 and the early Viper that didn't even have windows? Probably would have gone over great even if the engine use was still odd and the early production problems still happened.
Coming out several years after the Viper had a ton of improvements that made if faster, better handling and better mannered; and the C5 flipped the table on the entire market? Eh... Even if development had gone without a hitch I think it would have been a hard sell compared to the previous car Shelby had direct involvement with or the car that it sourced a bunch of stuff from
