Jeep needs to make this I think it's a very good idea should of done it years ago.

They kind of made something like it years ago with the Commanche and the Scrambler.

Jeep has known that a truck based on the JK would have sold like mad virtually since the JK came out. One of the ones built under licence for interested militaries was even available as a pickup of sorts. But the JK itself already sold faster than Jeep could make them (which is why the resale values on them is enormous) and the plant was also tasked with building the Cherokee. Now that the Cherokee was moved from Toledo and the Wrangler is in a new generation built from the start to accommodate a truck they can do it without much risk.
