Forza Motorsport 7 to Get New Race Shop in November

Very happy to know that. I don't really care about racing outfits (I like 'em blue, though.) and profile badges (I turn the driver names off during races.) but the mods no longer being RnG is a very welcome addition. Gonna go for Medium level mods, maybe a few high level ones.

RE-EDIT: removed something un-necessary from this message.

Removing loot crates is great news. Some people get lured in by the slot machine psychological tricks but for me, I hate them.

Hopefully Polyphony follows suit and removes the daily spin from GT Sport or its sequel.

I honestly don't see the problem if there's no real cash involved. Injecting a little bit of chance into prizes in games admittedly pads out play time — I remember re-running series in GT3 to get a prize car I wanted — but, at least for me, it's never felt like an insidious plot.

On one hand, having the same set prizes for every milestone in a game makes it easy to write strategy guides, or to plan your way through a racing game's campaign mode. But having a different prize each event also forces players to adapt their plan of attack. Both approaches have their benefits.

With FM8 not likely next year, I'm REALLY REALLY hoping that we will get an updated IndyCar, and possibly a couple of oval tracks like Iowa or Pocono that will give us IndyCar fanatics a nice new spark.

I just don’t like being a pawn to the unknown devices of the RNG gods. And if somebody dangles a carrot in front of me, my first reaction is to go in the other direction!

I dunno, I like the wheelspins from FH3. FH4 not so much because they're padded with so many junk outfits and horns. I think random rewards can be done right such that they're an enjoyable thing and add to the game.

It's unfortunate that they've become so tied to microtransactions that there's an almost instinctive reaction against them now for many people. There's nothing innately wrong with something being random, card and dice games remain fun and skillful even though casinos also exist.

Loot boxes were never good in FM7 though, it was just stuff that you bought hoping that you'd get something useful. The amount of times I'd go in and just buy a bunch to get more mods and open them all at once without even looking at what I got was too high. It was an additional step of work, not something that added to the game.

Weren’t they supposed to released 2 additional car packs? I think we only received one of them, if I can recall.

That comparison is seriously flawed. The "daily spin" has nothing at all to do with micro transactions or loot crates. It is just a way to reward players that put in miles every day. It doesn't cost anything, and there is no way for you to purchase daily spins.

Yup, the second one has yet to be released or talked about for that matter. Would be nice if we get this thing already, it's been 3 months since the last pack.

I hope Forza can do with not only two but four expansions and make an Expansion Pass similar to Horizon 4. The new age IndyCar vehicles, possible inclusion of more WeatherTech Sportscar Championship cars.

The third expansion should be based off of Super GT cars, since back in the early days of Forza there were plenty of JGTC/Super GT cars and now we only have just one.

The possible fourth expansion should signal the return of Toyota, Lexus and Scion in Forza if ever that becomes possible, but we don't know yet with what sorcery is going on with licensing regarding them.

Loot crates were paid for with in-game credits though. While I'm glad they're going, they didn't cost anything in terms of real world money and had nothing to do with microtransactions.

Knowing that Turn 10 supported car tokens (pay real money to unlock cars) in prior titles, doesn't mean that the Prize crates were intended to always be free from the beginning.

Some speculation on this from an August 26, 2017 AR12 Gaming article on this...
However, that doesn’t rule out the addition of microtransactions in Forza Motorsport 7 in the future, as Ekberg didn’t clarify whether the Prize Crates would remain exclusive to in-game credits for only the launch window or the entire lifespan of the title. History tells us that Forza always tends to launch without microtransactions, but add them via purchasable ‘Tokens’ in future updates. For example, Forza Horizon 2, Forza Motorsport 6, and Forza Horizon 3, all received microtransactions in post-launch updates, but they can be disabled within the menus.

T10 had the benefit to see player backlash at EA (and other publishers) for Loot Crates in SWBF2 as an example, and they simply never implemented a way to pay real money for the crates but, it's kind of obvious that they were intending to do just that. Many of the people complaining about the crates being a microtransaction device simply seen through T10's denial that they were for microtransactions. And I see it that way as well. If it walks like a Duck and, quacks like a Duck; you know?

I don't know. This sounds like precrime or thought crime to me. How about criticising Turn 10 for things they actually did wrong?

Many of the people that complained about the crates and microtransactions were simply misinformed. Plain and simple. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, but it's actually a dog, we should still call it a dog.

Oh Wow!!! Has it been that long? They’re really slacking now.
Yeah it has man, the July pack with the McLaren 720s was the last one. Although since then they have been sticking with the monthly free spotlight cars...but still. Come on :grumpy:

I'm looking forward to this new race shop. I'm hoping I can buy the race suits that are currently locked.

I'm kind of indifferent about the crates in FM7. They may not be evil micro transactors luring ignorant kids into economic despair, but they are a way to waste in-game credits on the occasional bad luck, which doesn't facilitate a great experience in the long run. The shop will hopefully offer a more straightforward and targeted experience.

I am also looking forward to the Race Shop, however I do have my reservations. I have played FM7 nearly exclusively since release and have been a major buyer of the Prize Crates. Initially, it was a great experience, as I appreciated that I didn't have to spend actual dollars on "tokens" to purchase additional content ( I agree with you @UKMikey ). I bought the Ultimate edition, and I feel if I pay the top dollar for the Ultimate, I shouldn't have to pay later on for additional content. That's just ridiculous. As time progressed, the prize crates became less interesting. By the time the Car crates came out, I already had all the cars available for purchase, (missing only the locked "FE" cars and other 'unicorns'). Which brings me to the current Driver gear crates. "Chance for Legendary" is an over used term in the prize crates store. What they really should have said, "you have a great chance to get 'these' Legendary Driver Suits". Completely miss-leading. Many of the Legendary and Super Rare Driver Gears are locked away and you have "No Chance" to get them. I have spent TENS OF MILLIONS of CR's to prove this out. And in many cases you just get the same driver gear over and over again. Ultimately, you get less than half of your money back, (actually that is the lone good point), but ultimately it's a colossal waste of time. Basically, the Mods are the ONLY thing that I praise in the Crate Store. They add bonus credits, and give you a challenge to your normal Free Play races. Over time they have gotten much more challenging, and reduced the odds of getting Legendary Mods recently. I would still like more 'flat out' just Bonus Mods to even it out. As I find myself selling back the Mods I already have a dozen of, in hopes of just getting the credit multipliers for nothing. Hopefully when the Store opens, I can buy out all the Driver Gear I am missing, and maybe get the last few Badges that have eluded me.

Note: No one has yet mentioned there is still one car being "held back" from us? That pick up truck FE edition? What the heck are they waiting for? Maybe to offer up in the store? One thing, I'm nearly at 150 Million CR, so I am ready for the Store!

How about anything new, first?
