My parents own a beast of a car called the Mercury Grand Marquis. 5.0L V8, yummy! The 150 HP, and 2 ton curb weight add to the appeal.

I love it. That is all.

Thanks.

My parents own a beast of a car called the Ford Fairmont Ghia. 4.0L I6, yummy! The 220 HP, and 2 ton curb weight add to the appeal.

I love it. That is all.

Thanks.

My father has a 250hp Audi S4, and my mother has a 200 hp Acura TSX. Both are yummier than your Grand Marquis. I love them, that's all.

My father has a 2003 Lexus ES300 and will purchase a Lexus RX300/RX330 or Toyota Highlander before August is complete.

I have a Peugeot moped.

my parents have a refigerator on wheels called a grand voyager. I dont know or care what hp it has. I love it.

and well, the 5.0 V8 isnt that bad... but it is indeed in a grand marquis :Puaj:

I realy want a Crown Vic. Get the Cheapie Hubcaps, Dual exhaust, and a spot light. As long as it isn't too out rageous a color, people will see me in their rearview mirror and move over cause they'll be thinking I'm the Highway Patrol. I love it!!! That is all.

ah.........yeah whats your point??.........theres millions of cars (probably) that could beat a 150hp V8

lots of people just get off on knowing they can beat a paticular slow V8

My mate is nearly 22 and he owns an R34 the bastid. He's planning on modifying the engine too... and you KNOW how much hp the R34 can push once modified ;)

I'm curious about this as well. How can an engine that large produce that little power?

270 ft.-lbs. at 2000 RPM...so it's detuned but not all bad. Your folks could easily heat it up with all of the 5.0 L Mustang parts available.

My dad has a 300 CI (5.0L) straight-six in his 87 F-150. Perhaps our parents should race sometime.

Jim's parents don't seem like the type who would partake in such a quest. But that's just my opinion.

Ahh - the wonderful world of early emission regulations.
I don't know if that's it - our emissions are much more regulated now than they were ten years ago. I still blame poor engineering, even though it does 270 ft-lbs.

Much has been learned about working with emissions regulation over the years. One of the first emissions-controlled Caddy engines was a 500 CI V8...it produced a raging 190 BHP.

Of course, there were cars with better specific output at the time. I would imagine that a Crown Vic is designed around low engine speed/part throttle operation.

My father has a 180 hp Saab 9-5, and my mother has a 120 hp Volvo 960. The Volvo is kinda slow. I love them, that's all.

:odd:

Did you dyno-test these or something?

In 1992, the Volvo 960 came with a 201-horsepower 2.9L I-6; in 1994 it came with a slightly detuned (because of new emissions laws) 181-horsepower 2.9L I-6. The only engine 'round 120hp Volvo made in that style was a 114-horsepower 2.3L I-4, which was only offered on the post-1991 940 GL (below).

The Saab 9-5, likewise, never came with a 180-horsepower engine; beginning in 1999 it had 170-horsepower and that jumped to 185-horsepower in 2001 (on the base 9-5s).
