I recently got a Soundblaster Live 5.1 player Sound card, and some standard 5.1 speakers.

The other day i realised that if i set in a game the sound setup to run in 5.1 mode, i get no sound (or very little) from the front 3 speakers. Its like everywhere else is making noises except the guy in front of me shooting :odd:

Im pretty sure its not the speakers as my brother has some better ones and a similar sound card (SB live platinum i think, hes not sure, which is helpfull) and he has the same problem.
Ive tried drivers and they dont make any effect and im kind of stuck..

ive heard somwhere that the SB live 5.1 cards are unreliable but im not sure if its true, or its just me doing somthing wrong.

Sounds like there is an issue with the speaker arrangements.

I would go into the "Sounds and Multimedia" Control Panel, click "Audio", then in "Sound playback", click "Advanced". Select the appropriate speaker arrangement and retry.

right, i just tryed that and it was already set to 5.1

Its kind of weird. For example:
Call of duty has the option for 5.1 sound, i select that and i get the problem. i set it to the setting it sees as default which is a kind of software equivilent and i can hear things roughly in 3D, but its realy just sound coming out of all the speakers in stereo.

You should have an AudioHQ in your control panel for Sound Blasters. Check there too.
