50th Ann. for 'Vette

But rumours go on that it will return. Sigh, the better always fall by the wayside, or something. Bye, Firebird.

Speaking of that, the Camaro's production stops next week.

dont quote me on this but i did hear a whisper that holden may be exporting the monaro or GTO to replace the camaro.

old news, dudebusta.

to be honest, i'm sure the car is fine, but i think some cars just loose some of their character when they are just rebadged imports. the gto is one of the most famous cars in the US. it's one of our icons. i suppose i should cheer at what is supposedly a great car coming here, but in this instance i'm somewhat saddened, no offense. and i'm not even a gto fan. :(

the monaro is underpowered and overrated. peice of crap really but im talking about the camaro. i think there will be an imported replacement.

aussie roads must suit our "clunkers" as well as small cars. i saw a letter to the editor in a local paper once where the guy was claiming some people indicated to him that they'd rather drive our big cars than the small cars they were driving. either european or japanese guys, i think. wonder how true that is.

im in the minority at work, everyone there has hi performance Japanese cars like 180's, skylines, integras etc. i have a holden commodore sedan with a 3.8 litre pushrod V6 (buick motor). i love the muscle car era. id rather have an old camaro or chevelle than a Japanese car. they have something that new cars dont, herritage and a displacement bigger than a bottle of coke.

They had character. That's something hard to come by in modern Japanese cars. Sure, they're fizzy, often economical, sometimes fun to drive, but it's hard to tell one from another. And an engine really only becomes characterful when it rumbles, not buzzes. ;)

All the writing in red is correct but I hear that the Monaro will be replacing the Pontiac Firebird GTO.

its already been done it was a few months ago now.

there may be a replacememnt camaro in the form of a commodore in the near future.

Um, there is no Pontiac Firebird GTO. The GTO was retired in the 70s. The Monaro is a revival of the GTO.
