Check this out, seems that Kazumori Yamauchi's been helping Nissan design Skyline shift paddles. And GT Concept will let you use the 7-th gear, and was going to include an 8-spd but Yamauchi-san changed his mind. Check it:

That got a run in one of the local newspaper's car sections - apparently he made them make the paddles a lot smaller and lighter.

Wasn't the tranny a CVT with eight gears 'plugged in' through the software?
