9 Laps on Cote w/F1?

I'm working on doing the Formula GT Series, and I've gotten to race 7, which is on Cote 'd Azur. I can make it 8 laps, but the AI drivers go 9, and by the end of 8 laps, I'm done. If I try to go another lap, the rear tires get completely red, and I slide all over the place.

I've set my rear toe to -2, but I'm still one lap short (all the other settings are default). Is there anything else I can change to prolong the life of the rear tires? Or am I driving too hard?

raise the traction control so you have less accelerating wheelspin....are you sure that having the toe (which makes the tires not face the direction the car is going) helps tire life? i would say it does the complete opposite because there is definately more friction. can anyone confirm this?

TCS is 5 by default on that car...and wheelspin isn't terrible. (I've been hesitant to turn that up.)

Regarding the toe, I read in one of the other posts in here that changing the rear toe from -6 to -2 or -1 would help prolong rear tire life.

Well, I cranked the TCS up to 10, kept the toe at -2, and now I can get 9 laps, prolly even 10. My lap times are a little slower, but that doesn't matter. Thanks for the suggestion.

I did this race with a toe out of -2 and found that the extra speed you gain through oversteer in the tight corners gives you more than enough time for an extra pit stop. I also tuned the gear so that you can get into seventh through the tunnel.

Another thing that might help tire life with this setup is instead of changing down to 1st or 2nd through the tighter corners try the gear above 2nd or 3rd. The TC still kicks in but it isn't having to work as hard and you don't lose any speed through as many gear changes.
