99.8%

no its not what youre thinking...im not asking for someone to help me get the last .2% when it's obvious i'm overlooking something simple. i'm actually 63.4% done with the game after one week today of having it. of course, it helps that my old roommate had the game and she and i beat the game previously. but i moved out and wasn't getting my racing fix from gt3. ANYWAY (whole other tangent there), i'm just here to gripe. the game, to me, is 99.8% perfect. but there's three glaring "flaws" in the game that piss me off to no end. i'm sure most of you feel the same way.

1. rolling starts. i wouldn't be so pissed off at these if all the cars accelerated at the same time. but i'm pretty certain that they accelerate in intervals, and on races where you have to be matched up pretty even (i.e. 206 race), it takes you forever to catch up to the lead car. i don't know if i'm wrong about this, but i don't enjoy them nonetheless.

2. in b-spec mode (yeah i use it but only for the super long enduros), when you clearly have overtake on, your car will just bang right into the back of the car ahead of you, slowing your car down and speeding their car up, making it harder for you to get ahead. i admit, it really doesn't matter in the long run of the race, but just seeing my car running, say, 200 mph right into the back of some other car INFURIATES me!

3. lastly, but certainly the worst, is the 5 second penalties on rally races. i understand them when it's obviously my fault (i.e. smacking nose first into a wall). but a lot of times, theres nothing i can do when i'm accelerating and the other car moves right ahead of me or bumps into me, and then i see him (or her, whatever) speed off into the distance while i'm stuck at 30 mph.

otherwise...great game. any agreements? disagreements? discuss. :yuck:

Everyone will agree tje penalty sucks. However, I don't mind it when my car easily slaughters the AI as I take it as it helps them.

In responce to your 3 things........

1. You do understand what a "rolling" start meens right??? The cars accelerate once they have crossed the start/finish line. So would make sense that the cars infront are going to accelerate faster than yourself...until you cross the same line.

2. I Toally agree with you on this point.......p1ss poor programing is what is causing this...
Example- My b-spec car is travelling 200kmph down a straight and cant pass a car infront travelling at 150kmph cause he runs up their ass.

3. Sorry but just learn to drive with more control. not a game flaw

I would just like to add.........(and my only major gripe) is a LACK OF ANY NIGHT CYCLE in 24HR RACES!!!! Biggest LET DOWN of the game. I mean come on this is the "Real Driving Simulator" but they couldnt put in a night cycle. COME ON PHD !!!!!

Other than that.... I LOVE IT.

I agree with your rolling start gripe. This bothers me as well. In any real race with rolling start, everyone gets the green flag "go" at the same time. In GT4, the cars accelerate one by one. This is a problem in races where you're very equally matched, and cannot qualify, as the the cars at the front get a huge head start on you. Another PD oversight that is detrimental to the game.

I quite like the penalty although I admit it was executed rather poorly.

I agree about the rolling starts, its not such a problem when your doing 5 or more laps, but its a pain in the butt if your in a car getting over 100 A spec points in a 2 lap race, theres just not enough time to get past unless its a long track like Nurburgring or Le Sarthe.

The thing that irritates me is there arent enough fairly short races, like 5-10 laps, for cars with racing tyres. Actually there arent enough series for different manufacturers included at all. I think the biginners, professional and extreme (it really should have been called expert, I'm so sick of everything being called extreme these days), should all have had 20 series each. It wouldn't have needed that much extra code I'd think, just a name and a set of perameters and a prize car.
A few more enduros would be cool too, not more monster 24hr races but more 2-3 hr races.

Hate the rolling start and the five second penalty. And I agree on the B-Spec mode Overtake situation, although my driver never rammed into the butt of someone else's car at 200 MPH.

The rolling start is what pisses me off most.

And dunno about where you are Datsss73, where I'm from on a rolling start, once the green flag is dropped, every car in the race has permission to floor it. Not wait til they cross the start line giving the lead car a x second advantage over everyone else.

I entered this topic to read because I thought someone had the same problem as me.....

My trouble now is I have EVERYTHING in GOLD, every race WON, every single thing in the game finished.....but I´m still on 99'8 % !!!! Does anyone know where can that 0'2 % come from? something I´m missing? because I´ve checked and checked EVERYTHING.....

Welcome to GTP

I have the same problem, but in my situation, the 1st driving mission is the other .2% of my 99.8% and I guess my game has glitches or something because when I win it, it says I didn't.

thanks for the welcome Kevin....

I´ve been looking in many forums and in one of them said that the game "hangs" at 99,8 %.....until you are trully 100% ?!?! :ouch: I don´t really know what it means....

You need to go back and re-read his third complaint. What he is saying is that when he is racing, the A.I car will come up and hit his front end, and he will get the penalty for something he didn't do wrong. It's not that he needs to learn how to drive with more control, as you put, but the A.I needs to be programmed better and/or giving a 5 second penalty as well.

1 - Rolling start things sucks. Just did the Hyundai series in my Tiburon GT and could do all the races fairly easily except Hong Kong - just NOT enough time to catch the leader if you're in a car w/similar set up...

2 - Yeah, the B-spec could use some improvement - in races where I can win by a decent margin (5+ seconds) my b-spec driver can't even get past the 5th position...

3 - I agree here too, and I've been in some of those special condition events where the AI will come up and slam ME in the rear, which puts me into the wall, giving me the penalty and he goes zooming by - BS!@#$@#$@$#🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬

Oh yeah, and I was bummed by the no day/night cycle in the 24 hour races.

I hate my B-Spec driver. He always goes off the roads on the easiest turns. Also, some of the physics in the games dont seem real to me.

what physics are you talking about? i dont think you can judge physics unless you've actually driven the specific car in the specific manner youre specifying ::redundant:: but i think they got the physics as good as youre gonna get from a video game...at least till gt5 comes out

I'm talking about rallys. I've seen real videos of rallys and the GT4 rallys seem way to fake to me.

They are horribly inaccurate. I just figure that they throw the rallys in as a bonus. The road racing is what I get these games for anyway.

Yeah, me too. Also a lot of the car stats are wrong. The miggest mistake I've encountered is a stock Dodge ram going like 70mph in first gear.

My situation with the 99.8 thing was I knew I had to finish race 32 in mission level but I realize I will never get that so I settled on what I thought was the end and only had 99.6. Anyway I was at 99.6 so I figured ok .4 would be mission 32 but I was wrong. I found a series race under the american championship that was not done. I dont know how it got there as I had checked everything at least 5 times but there it was. I did the series again and walaa I was at 99.8 so for those that say there is a bug.. Maybee??? but keep checking and I really think there is a race missing rather than a problem with the game.

yea u have a point there the rallys are not realistic enough cuz im a rally fan and i was hoping on some better rallys(good thing i got rallisport challenge 2 )

oh totally understandable. i dont really care about the rallys...i just do them and get them over with and never see the inside of a rally car again

I've read several times that some of us mistake bronze for Gold. perhaps a careful check may reveal your problem.
Good luck hunting.

I've been at 99.6% complete for a long time now, and Ive recently decided to go back and get all the cars in the game, and I need to get 100% to get the black formula car. But here's my problem the only thing that I can find I havent completed yet is mission 34 (I've got the NTSC version of 9:13), which i figure to give me only .2%. Is there a bug in this such as transferring data from previous versions that will not allow me to get 100%. I checked and double checked every race so that I have all golds. And it says "mission clear" for every other race in the mission hall. Just wondering if anybody could help me out or give me some ideas. Thanks

1. Hi, welcome to GTP
2. Holy thread revival!!
3. Did you read toke81s first post? Im guessing you didnt. Read it and then post again or edit your post. :)

i have to say this. what i put above there sounds kinda mean and i had no intentions to being mean, i was just informing you

Penalty, yes it sucks, but the first two arent bad

Man my biggest and probably only one of few hates about b-spec is the 90 degree corner in New York at the end of the 2nd long straight.
I always crash there in b-spec!!!
Who here would prefer, for the rallies, instead of 5 second penalties, they instead add 3 or 4 seconds to your total finishing time!?
I also noticed the Laguna Seca 200 miles race.
You can use racing tires even though the AI are sports cars!!
One last thing.
The Sarthe I endurance race.
Why do the cars crash on the way to the chicanes!!?
They crash into the wall and ride on it for 5 plus seconds and are still turning into it!!!
It's weird!!

Check your progress diary. There's a bug in the game where if you don't complete Mission 1 before the others, you can't get to 100%
