A/B-Spec Challenge

I have come up with this idea for the A/B-Spec Challenge.

Instructions:
1. Create a new B-Spec Driver (or be the driver yourself)
2. With a starting budget of $40,000 purchase a vehicle new or used (OCD is fine but if half price, full price must be taken from the budget)
3. Using only the new driver(or yourself) and car, compete in as many races as possible (see restrictions list below)
4. Each race can only be attempted once
5. Remaining budget and Credits won from races can be spent on upgrades for the car (in B-spec any tyre purchased, will also grant use of any lesser tyre due to the tyre restrictions in b-spec)(no use of tickets)(oil & rear spoiler are not free, but paint, rims and front/side customization is)
NOTE: Only add the credits listed without bonus to the budget total i.e. if you have 110-200% bonus you should only add what is listed for your placing without the bonus)
6. When posting, please include the following:

Driver Name:
Car:
PP:
HP:
KG:
Parts Installed (PI):
Remaining Budget (RB):

7.After each race or parts upgrade, please list all changes to PP/HP/KG/PI/RB
8.Your journey comes to an end when you run out of events to compete in either because the car selected is not eligible or because it is not fast enough to come anything other than last
9.Blatant AI Ramming or corner cutting for A-spec is discouraged

Points for Races are as follows:

Good work so far GTsail. You have a big wad of cash to spend.

I would suggest maybe the supercar festival in pro series to go to next after a few upgrades of course

Thanks for the suggestion.👍

The cars that we meet in the Supercar Festival are certainly fast!:nervous:

I had to go back to the auto-parts store (see my post just above) and buy them out!

Gotcha:tup:

I came in second on my first attempt. I couldn't quite catch the leader on the last stretch even though I was in his draft, so I came across the Finish line a few tenths back. 2nd place winnings were only $12,500.

Thanks,

Definitely going to give this a shot. From the guidelines in place, it seems the best option for car selection would either be an RM car (since the initial cost is low but after earning some cash you can race modify it for a lot more performance later) or one of the standard Japanese "big turbo" cars like 3000GT, Supra, RX7, Skyline, etc... which seem to offer the most performance for the dollar.

This seems to be correct as you say, however it can be fun to try out a smaller car and see how far you can take it. In my B-spec run, the Alfa is maxed out with everything and now am just seeing which events I can place in since I know I can't win anymore haha.

I really thought this series was going to be much harder than it was. I thought these race cars were going to pose a bit of a threat to my little subie but I came out ahead by at least a quarter lap in every race, despite being at like a 15-25 PP deficit to the BMW McLaren and Chapparal 2J that finished 2nd and 3rd. This car really surprised me. It's turned out to be a little powerhouse, especially now that I have found a great setup for it. (Thank you RKM Motorsport!!!!)

I had no expectations that I was going to win this. At all. But again, this car surprised me. Of course Indianapolis was a chore... I knew that if I was going to keep up with these guys I was going to have to keep my speed in the turns which meant maxing the downforce. I actually went through the turns much faster than the other cars in the race. Unfortunately my car's normal top speed is only like 180mph. So I set the transmission way up to like 220mph and drafted like a madman on every straight and because of the downforce I was able to carry that momentum through the turns. There's no way I could have gotten first though. Just getting 3rd there was nerve-wracking enough. For the other tracks, I was always out in front, but never by more than a couple seconds on any course, it was always very close. The last straight on Nurburgring really scared me, but luckily I was able to draft the 2 cars that shot past me and brake late at the end and regain the lead. Luckily the Jag didn't show up in the grid though, as that thing is like 60pp higher than the next highest car in the race. No way on earth would I have gotten 1st on any of the tracks if it had been there.

Tied with the 787B at the end of the series but it gave me 1st in the championship because I got first in the last race. All I can say is thank god for narrow tracks where the AI won't try to pass you. I should have been completely blown away in these races. And I was, when ever I let a car go past me it ended up WAY out ahead. But if I kept myself out in front and did not give any other cars an opportunity to pass, I could keep myself out front. My eyes hurt. My fingers hurt. And I have no idea how the hell this little subie just keeps on winning.

It was a good run. This little subie has turned out to be a much better car than I had previously thought it was. I guess I never really gave it much of a chance before. But after this, I have been very surprised by its capabilities.

I made an attempt at the 24 hour races... after an hour on each track I determined that I could indeed place higher than last in both of them. Maybe even up near the middle of the pack with a lot of effort and really good pit strategy. But I decided that the gargantuan undertaking of driving for 48 total hours was not really worth it just to add at most maybe 12 points and @$400,000 to my end totals.

wow haha straight into the enduros.

I wouldn't have race-modded so early, now your car can only participate in race car events.

Probably should have cleaned up the road car and tuner events first.

I just had my wisdom teeth pulled out so I have nothing better to do than sit on my couch and play GT5 while blasted out of my mind on pain killers :dopey:

There aren't any events in aspec or bspec that specifically require non-race cars

I had said in post #1
"(some races such as the World Compact Car Race, have no restrictions but the event is clearly for Compact Cars. In this instances, please restrict yourself as necessary)"

Some other examples are with the Super GT and Suzuka 1000KM, these races only have Super GT cars, which is what they should be restricted to.

But other events, such as the tuned car championship (which only have tuner cars) are open to any car, as any car can be a tuned car.

Also please keep each attempt in its own post by editing each time you complete more races.

Well that kind of leaves some grey areas open to interpretation...

For instance, SuperGT is for race tuned Japanese cars around certain weight and power, my car is roughly the same specification-wise as a super GT car (or what you can get a super GT car up to with a turbo upgrade) so would that be allowed?

Lexus SARD SC430
Race car
Japan
562hp (stage 3 turbo)
1100kg
613pp (at default downforce, maxes at like 621)

My RM WRX
Race car
Japan
542hp
1065kg
605pp

Conversely, would a NON-racing car be allowed to compete in a race versus real race cars? For instance if I took a Supra or 3000GT and maxed out the upgrades, would I be able to enter it in to the GT world championship and race it against those LM race cars?

I understand what you mean but your RM WRX does not meet Super GT specifications and the same for a non-racing car against racing cars.

I have added specific restrictions in post #1.
However, in your case as you have already RM'd your car, I will treat it as a road car for the races it would be eligible for otherwise as I believe it would be able to win those races as a fully tuned road car.

Any races that you are not eligible for but have completed however, I will simply not add the credits and pts from those events to your total.

Well yeah, had I known I would just have held off on the RM until after those events. I would still have won the races (Japanese Championship, Turbo Challenge, Supercar Festival, and PD Cup) regardless of having done the RM or not.

I'll pull the Super GT races out of there.

Please don't make me have to start over lol

Once a car has had the "race modification" performed, its no longer eligible for "non-racing" race events?

Professional Series
Supercar Festival Any Car Not Racing

Expert Series
Tuning Car Grand Prix Any Car Not Racing
MR Sports Cup MR Not Racing
Turbo Turbo Not Racing

Endurance Series
Nurburgring 4 hours Any Car Not Racing
Tsukuba 9 hours Any Car Not Racing

The above six race series have "not racing" as the restriction.

Does this mean that "race modified" cars are not allowed to compete?

I "race modified" my Lotus Elise '96, and after 5 attempts in the Supercar Festival, I was able to win at Daytona against the supercars that regularly show up. I would not have had a chance if my Lotus was not race modified, though, I think I could achieve 11th place if the '69 Chevy Corvette shows up.:)

Thanks,

Might not any car that has a number panel on it be considered a racing car?
Racing cars, track cars (TC) and racing modified (RM) cars all have number panels, as far as I can recall.

Racing cars, track cars (TC) and racing modified (RM) cars all have number panels, as far as I can recall.

Normally, I would say yes, since the RM cars end up with numbers on their doors.

However, I was wondering if Hatfield would allow an exception to this for this particular "Single-Car Challenge".

Against the normal Supercars (like the McLaren F1 and the Enzo Ferrari), my '96 Lotus Elise doesn't stand a chance unless the race Mod's are allowed, so I was hopeful that I might sneak my RM Elise past the race stewards.:sly:

Wouldn't it be easier to just skip all the noting of what car can enter what race and just stipulate that if the game allows you to enter your chosen car in a race, that it should be allowed? But if that's not feasible, I have some points to make about the current regulations:

Tuned Car GP
Nurburgring 4 hours
Tsukuba 9 hours

These races are for a "tuned car" class. A tuned car designates that the car started out as a road car and was modified for higher performance. While it is true that some of the cars in this field are not much more than modified street cars, there are also a number of them that have been modified to the point that they are for the most part full on race cars. Cars like the HKS CT230R and Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo. Both these cars and the RM cars start out as road cars, but get modified to race spec proportions. The only difference is that those did not have a number pasted on the side of them. As such, I porpose that any RM car be allowed to enter into these races, the only thing not allowed being a car that was a purpose built race car from the start. But seeing as there are no purpose built race cars that are able to be purchased with the initial budget of $40,000 I think to be easy we just say that any car, racing or not, be allowed to enter these races.

GT All Stars

I think rather than limiting this to "Le Mans" race cars only, it be limited to just race cars in general. There are a number of cars that come up in the lineup that are not from Le Mans racing. The Ford Falcon raced in Australian V8 Supercar series. The Blitz ER34 Skyline is a D1GP drift car. The Citroen GT race car never even existed.

For my second attempt, I settle for some British machinery:

---Stage 3 engine $30,000

---Sports intake manifold $2,500

Even with all my recent upgrades, I'm only able to reach 8th place during my first run at Daytona.:(

I decide to drop a bit more coin at the GT Auto and try again even if my winnings must be given to charity....;)

I find that I need a little more speed to handle the AI at Daytona in the Supercar Festival, so its back to the GT Auto parts store for the following:

After 4 more attempts at Daytona, I win the race by 0.105 seconds over the Chevy Corvette ZR1 '09, with the Enzo Ferrari '02 just behind him, and donate another $17,300 to my favorite charity.;)

I was considering the Turbo Challenge - Expert Series as my next race, but it seems that my race modified Lotus violates the race Series restrictions.

Therefore I will retire my Lotus for now.:(

Enjoy the racing!

I have made some changes to the restrictions for:

GT All Stars (I wasn't aware of the other race cars appearing in the lineup)

Tuned Car Champ
Nur 4hr
Tsu 9hr
^Have allowed race cars too based on Broseph's explanation

As for the RM being allowed in the supercar festival, I would rather not. Maybe an elise isn't meant to win all of those races.

As a challenge, when it comes to RMs, just leave the stock hp and upgrade tyres only. If it doesn't come with LSD leave it. I've done it to my RMs. makes it a little more fun.

I hit the wall. No more races left.

I have updated post #1 with your scores. You miscalculated slightly as you included suzuka 1000km and forgot to score points for each championship win. eg. if you win the clubman cups 3 races you get points for each of the 3 race wins and points again for the championship win.
